So Liljegren who was a big faller in his draft year of 2016-17 has continued to slide in our own rankings here a year and a half later. Some Leafs fans defending him saying he is playing a solid year in the AHL which cant be ignored and perhaps he will climb back up the rankings as we do this in the future. We will see, this all for fun and Im sure a lotta these rankings will change not only in a year but in the months and weeks before then. 25 is NEXT

I’ll go with Cal Foote here. Went #14 overall at the draft, big first year post draft and now a good second season in the AHL so far. Like with Liljegren I feel Foote deserved to go higher but what can you do.

Seems like a pretty needless poke from the OP. Lily is an excellent prospect in the same range as a lot of other prospects in what is looking like a surpisingly good draft.

Not to change this isn’t a Lily thread.

Gonna throw Vaak’s hat in the ring for this one. Bruins rumored to view him in a class just below Pasta and McAvoy. Two way d-man that leans to the D side of things. A bizzaro Lily. Played against men in Sweden last year and made the Bruins roster out of camp before getting an elbow to the head. Elite skater and good stick. Also has some PP2 ability, but that won’t be his calling card.

Liljegren ranking is kind of pointless as the Leafs are patient with their prospects, just cause other D Prospects from this draft are playing in the NHL this year does not mean they are better than Liljegren imo.

What about those who were better last year, better at WJC's, better in preseason?

Yes - perhaps the elite scouts on HFboards will one day vote for Liljegren to go higher in an HFboards re-draft.

Until then, Leafs fans will continue to hang out heads in shame.

where do you guys think liljegren should go? don't see rangers fans whine about andersson

but did saw flyers fans whine about frost

there's one player that I wouldn't be surprised to see go top 5 and he was off the board for a loong time

this is a deep draft

This is suppose to be for fun, theres no right or wrong answer at this point. Maybe lighten up about it

Unfortunately just about every time I open a new thread I have to remind people this is for fun and that these rankings will DEFINITELY change with time. I really doubt in 10 years we will say Liljegren will end up the 24th best from the draft, whether higher or lower, wouldnt ya think??

Then sure, but I'd argue lot's of the ones you'd say we're better than Liljegren last year, actually weren't. Mostly because you have a hilariously awful reputation and track record where you are wrong when it comes to the Leafs ~90% of the time. I remember back in the day when Bennett was gonna be > Marner. Good one guys.

Didn’t Vaakinainen play in Finland last year

He played in Finland last year and has close to no offensive ability apart from good break out pass.

You could probably talk me in to a few names here, but I went with Poehling.

I know that’s the book on him but he was making some nice plays on the PP for Boston/Providence this year. Ability is different than focus as a young player. He isn’t Carlo where the tools and IQ are limited.
