Don’t think many voters have tuned in to see Liljegren’s dominant play on a top pairing in the AHL this season, otherwise he’d go in the 10 - 12 range again in a redraft.

How quickly people forget, Liljegren was considered the 8th best D prospect in hockey this summer:

https://hfboards.mandatory.com/threads/top-10-defensive-prospects-2018-10th-overall.2515023/

Valimaki was 10th, Brannstrom 11th, Jokiharju nowhere on the map. Now Liljegren puts on a dominant performance in the AHL to start the season, and somehow he slides way down? Doesn’t compute.

If he had been rushed into the NHL like some other recent D prospects, maybe he skyrockets into the top 10 in an hfboards redraft as well. Toronto seems to be intent on developing him the right way though, and I can’t blame them for that.

I can understand Brannstrom and Jokiharju, but not Valimaki. I think if it was up to me, Jokiharju is in at 8, then 9-15 is some mix of Necas, Chytil, Liljegren, Brannstrom, Tolvanen, Andersson, Thomas and then you get into Valimaki, Vilardi, Suzuki, Frost, Rasmussen, Comtois, Vesalainen, etc. So nothing too huge besides dropping Valimaki closer to where he was drafted in the first place, and where he still belongs.

Liljegren should be the no-brainer here, but Frost should also get a ton of votes and be next. After that, probably Vesalainen will run away with it.

I don't think he will win this poll, but I will say this. I wouldn't trade Drake Batherson for a single name left on that list.
He was under rated on draft day and will probably be under rated here too.

What exactly is so dominant about 7 points in 12 games? That puts him at 39th in scoring among AHL defenders.

I don't doubt that Lily is a good player with great potential but I keep seeing people talk about how dominant he's been, but I don't really think 2 goals and 5 assists is necessarily dominating.

Its truly an underrated draft. Guys like Vaakanann shouldnt be dropping in rankings, but theres a lotta good guys who went ahead of him. And Timmins should be more of a riser than this but is still onboard. Foote is no slouch either and is still sitting there. Vesalainen too

No chance Frost goes out of top 15. This board really likes to shit on Flyers players and prospects.

Giroux isn't elite
Granlund is better than Couturier
Patrick has a ceiling of a 2C
Now Frost is behind Suzki and Rasmussen?

Edit: I sound like a disgruntled leafs fan, sorry

Which is why I posted initially that I doubt many of the voters have seen him play this season. He’s on Toronto’s top pairing at even strength and on the top PK unit. He is playing at an elite level at both ends of the ice. He hasn’t been gifted top unit PP time and despite being on the second unit is on pace for 48 points (over 82 games). He’s absolutely on pace for a dominant season at the AHL level, and he’s still a WJC eligible junior to boot.

No is saying he’s not a good prospect. But unless you watch every other prospect a lot how can you say he’s better than them. I’d pick him a couple of spots from now but he’s in the mix.

I feel pretty confident that when all is said and done he’ll hold greater value than several of the names already on that list. With defenders it’s not about who gets rushed to the NHL the quickest, it’s about developing prospects the right way.

LMAO do you really think fans care so much about a mediocre franchise like the Flyers?

Vaakanainen looked great in his NHL games already, not sure how he drops spots in a re-draft so I went ahead and voted for him in this spot. Too bad Boro elbowed him in the face lol

Meh. We’ll see. Leaf fans were calling him the steal of the draft right after the draft. He’s a decent pick but dropped a bit since the draft.
Lots of good prospects here.
He’s about where he should be.

Til a player makes a real impact in the NHL you can hardly say anything that is really that convincing when you are comparing them simply to other prospects........numbers in a minor league usually isn't going to impact your status all that much especially if a certain player lacks an ideal size.

Can’t really explain him dropping with the start he’s had this year, so I disagree there. But you’re right, we’ll see what the future holds.
