Not sure about drafting a 19 year old LHD who has 0 goals in 161 OHL games, haha. Can't really complain about 6th round picks, though.

I don't know who this Bourque guy is but his stats seem pretty awful. Also, he's 19 years old.

I've seen Trenton Bourque play a lot and I think he really deserved a late round selection. He has good size and is a very good skater. He's not a train wreck with the puck, so it's been quite surprising to me that he still hasn't managed to score a goal. That being said, the defensive side of things is where he excels. 5/6 upside; not amazing but not a wasted pick IMO.

For Blues fans wondering who the heck they just picked, I can provide a rundown on Bourque.

A steady defensive defenceman with room to grow, a decent stride, and growing confidence moving the puck. Earlier this year there was discussion among Attack fans as to whether this guy was ever going to be more than a third pairing junior defender.

However, in the second half when the Attack went on their run to the top of the West, Bourque emerged as a real key cog in the blueline, particularly shining when Jacob Friend (LA -2016) went down for a while. In the playoffs Bourque was nothing short of excellent, playing with supreme confidence and imposing himself at times in what was a brutal playoff bracket in the OHL West.

As for his NHL prognosis? Honestly I'm surprised he got drafted. Here's likely what the Blues are seeing: good skating, upward trending defender with good size and someone who could definitely break out in a big way. But at this point in the draft there's as much chance that Bourque is at school two seasons from now as he is to be signed and looking at a pro future.

For the coming season he'll be locked into the Attack's Top 4 in what should be one of the top dogs in the OHL. He'll have plenty of opportunity, and with no true offensive D on the team, he might even get to test his offensive game.

Bottom line: a pure project 6th rounder. Circle back in 3-4 years if he's moving up your pro system.

Philly, Arizona, New Jersey, and Nashville are killing it. Devils and Flyers aren't just relying on the high picks, making solid picks all the way through.

It would just as reasonable to say that all of those teams are having hilariously embarrassing drafts thus far and have squandered every one of their picks. Until any of these kids do anything in the NHL, how can this be judged? You can go through every draft in the past 20 years and find guys who were hailed as "great" picks at the time, who went on to do nothing...and find unheralded players in every round who ended up having NHL careers. The draft is just every team making best guesses...impossible to know today who's "killing it".

Appreciate the scouting report.

Seems like the Blues are looking at guys who have had solid late season surges and trended upwards late...don't hate it I guess. I mean, it's the late rounds. Here's hoping for a flier on Dhillon in the 7th lol

The Devils got a steal with Chmelevski at 185. I wasn't paying attention in round 3, for obvious reasons, and had assumed that he had went there.

Haha cmon man, I'm just saying I like their drafts so far. Totally subjective feeling. I like the players they're adding to their system, that's it.
