If it was quite easily, there wouldn't have been a runoff in the first place
When it comes to prospect polls, I like to come at them from the perspective of what it would be like if the Flames were the most average team in the NHL, across the board in every single position.
The way I see it is that you're looking at two boom-bust prospects. You might get something out of them, but the likelihood they reach their potential is pretty unlikely, compared to safer prospects like Valimaki or Jankowski. Given our theoretical average defence and goaltending, if Gillies and Kylington were the only prospects of worth in our organization who would you feel more comfortable trading away? In this case, I just can't see any case for Gillies.
With the current team we have, I truly think Kylington is the better prospect but Gillies is more important to us because of the surplus of defensive prospects we have. If we also had any shred of constancy in the goaltending position over the past few years, I'm sure Gillies would be more of an afterthought, too. But we kinda need him or Parsons to pan out, unfortunately
