If it was quite easily, there wouldn't have been a runoff in the first place :P

When it comes to prospect polls, I like to come at them from the perspective of what it would be like if the Flames were the most average team in the NHL, across the board in every single position.

The way I see it is that you're looking at two boom-bust prospects. You might get something out of them, but the likelihood they reach their potential is pretty unlikely, compared to safer prospects like Valimaki or Jankowski. Given our theoretical average defence and goaltending, if Gillies and Kylington were the only prospects of worth in our organization who would you feel more comfortable trading away? In this case, I just can't see any case for Gillies.

With the current team we have, I truly think Kylington is the better prospect but Gillies is more important to us because of the surplus of defensive prospects we have. If we also had any shred of constancy in the goaltending position over the past few years, I'm sure Gillies would be more of an afterthought, too. But we kinda need him or Parsons to pan out, unfortunately

I'm not sure if kylington will become more than a pp specialist. I mean there's certainly a lot of time for me to be wrong since he's still so young but I think he'll be a #5/6 pp guy

On the other hand, I think Gillies has solid starter potential and could be better for us down the road so I'll go with him.

I'm pretty sure Gillies will become a solid backup while I feel that Kylington will become an elite #1. Very easy choice here.

I like both prospects.
Gillies needs a bounce back season and Oliver just needs to continue to trend upwards.

The crazy part is if Kylington puts it together... like, there's very few players league with with that type of package.

I'm beginning to wonder if he's not got similar odds of achieving that as winning a jackpot on a lottery ticket though...

Time will tell.

Well, it's why he was picked as the final 2nd rounder in his draft and not #3-5. Know what I mean?
But there's a chance... and that's what makes it exciting.

We knew exactly what we were getting when we drafted Kylington. There's plenty of time for him to iron out the kinks in his game too. But you can't teach the offensive instinct he has, nor should our coaches try to tame it. I'm optimistic with him

Considering what Kylington was when we drafted him, I don't know what more people would have wanted from him. He's never going to be a shutdown dman, we just need him to not **** the bed and make good decisions. This is a really talented player and I think one more full year of development will put him in a good spot to challenge for a regular spot.

Andersson is more polished at this point for sure, but I'd still take Kylington if it came down to it.

If Kylington takes this, is it a safe bet to say Gillies gets #6? I can't imagine 21 people (or more) all voting for the same player in another poll.

The pedant in me bristles immediately at statements like this.
