I think we hear a lot of good things about Meloche during training camp. Seems like the type of player who will make that obvious impact at all times.

Thanks SEPH, camp thread always gives me the warm and fuzzies. :dd:

I'll go with Yak. Skill flashes in camp. Just like Grigo. Meloche doesn't look mind blowing in drills, he shows his stuff in games. Probably won't fully until preseason when he can fully agitate and hit guys.

Yak might flash in camp because he works his ass off (and drills don't make you think), but I highly doubt he'll be the most exciting player. It'll be Jost, all the work he's done in the offseason and natural skill will generate a lot of buzz.

Greer maybe too with how he goes 300% all the time. Everyone will love Mironov until the games count. Not that I expect he will be bad then but the pro experience will create a buzz in camp.

It 's very important ,Sakic bring lot of new players for breaking the mentality of last year and bad energy. The young players line Jost,Compher,Mironov, lindholm, wilson, yakupov as some PTO must bring full energy.

I liked Lindholm and I have a feeling he'll keep surprising, in a good way.

TC is certainly my favorite time of the year. Ready to rev this up again.

If Mironov is eligible to play in the rookie tournament, it'll be him. A man amongst boys. Jost will be a close second, but him standing out will be expected.

JCB. Not because he's going to be the best player there or anything like that. I just think he's undersold as a prospect and people don't understand how good he is. His intelligence will allow him to learn quick with men and make people around him better.

Going with Chris Bigras and Nicolas Meloche as early camp standouts. I think that Meloche will head to the AHL at the end of preseason regardless, but I think he will give the Avs pause before doing so.

I think Bigras has been a little bit of a forgotten man, but I expect to standout with his skating and defensive IQ.

I think Warsofsky is going to get the most hype and likely make the team out of camp. Not that he will be good (he won't be better than a bottom pairing defender), but he will get the hype as a 'steal.'

Compher for me
He was already showing some really good NHL potential so I decided to leave him off the list.

Where the hell did this year go? I voted Jost but I think Yak is going to turn some heads.
No fake Olympic hockey this year with the World Cup, so training camp is starting when it normally should (which might seem earlier than it really is).

Greer maybe too with how he goes 300% all the time. Everyone will love Mironov until the games count. Not that I expect he will be bad then but the pro experience will create a buzz in camp.
Even though the Rampage fell apart in the last third of the season, I still considered it a solid season for Greer; thus why I left him off the list with the likes of Bigras and Siemens who getting to AHL veteran status at some point. I wanted to keep the poll at either younger players or new addition.

Colin Wilson coming from a playoff team will probably look really good to a lot of people even if hes basically just a good third liner like hes always been.

I think he's a lot closer to Gabe Landeskog as a hockey player than people here will want to believe.

That can be taken so many ways lol.

Colin Wilson is almost as good as Landeskog

Colin Wilson and Landeskog are third liners and busts

Which one do you mean? Or both?

Daily Faceoff has the lines listed as thus:

Andrighetto - Duchene - MacKinnon
Landeskog - Jost - Wilson
Yakupov - Compher - Rantanen
Nieto - Soderberg - Comeau
Colborne

That's actually not too bad if you believe they would roll three lines and ice time would be distributed somewhat evenly. Of course the MacKinnon/Duchene tandem only worked when MacK was the center and Dutchy was the winger, but whatever.

As for the D...

Zadorov (SIGN ALREADY!!!) - Johnson
Barberio - Barrie
Lindholm - Bigras
Mironov (?)

Yeah...that's kinda scary. I would think Barrie-Barberio would be a terrible pairing, but would make for a cute cartoon character's name.

They were already a pairing and they were one of the better ones we had but the team finished last in almost record-breaking manner, so...
