I would replace Sersen with Granak. I really liked Cajkovsky at Slovakia cup. I would prefer Sedivy over Janosik. It is a pity that Reway is injured. I would love to see him at WCH. I dont know if Ciger will nominate Kopecky. However this team is really medicore. Especially forward group. We need at least Chicago or Detroit go out of play offs very early :D

Your 3th Goalies is a weird choice.

Why Melichercik? Ok, he is good in Slovak Extraleague. But he has no experience in National team. And is already 29. As a 3th goalie i would prefer younger Denis Godla. He is in second finish league, but he is doing great. Next season he will be in top SM-League.

Then there is Jan Laco. Ok, this is not his best season, but he has done great job on WCH.

Hudacek is good, Konrad could be useful second goalie. Question is, how far will Islanders go. And if Halak want to play for national team...

I just find out it is spelled MEDIOCRE :D Nevermind. You can have motivation but it is not enough. This team can reach quarter final though. But I really did not like it. We had worse defence group at past and goalies but if this should be our forward group it is possibly weakest one in our championships history. Anybody from these forwards wouldnt make team in 2003 or 2005. I think this is our rock bottom. At least at offence. We can not reach bellow that. Similar players we will have some next years. However this line ups can beat Hungary, Germany, France and Belarus.

Solid roster, very good knowledge of the Slovak players.

As much as I like Visnovsky, I don't think he has another run left in him. In a recent interview he's stated he's playing through a lot of pain, can't do a lot of stuff on ice 100 percent and some things at all, like sprinting. Mostly back problems. He had a great career and he can be happy with it.

Zaborsky I am kind of meh about, I'd much rather see anyone with even limited NHL minutes like Hrivik or Jurco.

He might not be available because the Rangers usually go far in the playoffs, but Marek Hrivik is playing very well after his call up from the AHL, and probably could make this team, if he was available. Good 4th liner, brings speed and power and some skill, good defensively, PK's, I have no clue why he was in the AHL so long.

Good to hear, thanks for the info. Was wondering about the AHL thing too, but I guess now the time is right. Hope he stays up.

He got sent down yesterday. He actually was really good, but pecking order. :snakehead

He's so much better than Tanner Glass, Hrivik shouldn't have been sent down.

As far as I know, Zaborsky was asked whether or not would he like to join our NT again and he declined. Such a shame, we have no one to replace him with.

Why did he quit on the national team in the first place?

Why did he quit on the national team in the first place?

He wasn't invited to a couple of tourneys and it seems like he got a bit offended. It's kind of weird, as none of those tourneys were important, except for 2011 WC. But then again, he played in Sochi despite having a really awful season. I don't know, he is a bit strange.

Decent cut, but realistically I'd say Panik (playoffs) is out, Hrivik (playoffs) is out, Zaborsky (ongoing NT issues) is out, Radivojevic and Visna quit his national career. Jurcina shouldn't be there, better players than him. IDK about Budaj...

Hrivik, Panik Zaborsky probably have to be replaced by 4th liners Skalicky, Lusnak, and maybe someone like Cingel. Unfortunately guys from your 4th have to do 3rd liners. Cajkovsky and Mikus are contenders for the additional defense spot, think Cajkovsky in particular has done well since he left NA

Think this team has enough to make it to the knock-outs, but beyond that its all about luck or maybe chemistry

Considering the fact LA, Chicago, Bruins, Islanders and Rangers can go far and after reading this article

This year I hope for something like this ;)

Hudáček
Konrád
Melicherčík

Sekera (A) - Marinčin
Meszároš - Čajkovský
Starosta - Ďaloga
Graňák (C) - Jaroš

Tatar (A) - Daňo - Jurčo
Cehlárik - Réway - Viedenský
Dravecký - Hudáček - Šťastný
Bakoš - Marcinko - Skalický
Hrnka, Dej

IMO young, skilled, good skating team, that can be competitive.

I feel like Kopecky is one of those aging Slovaks to stay away from.

I feel like Kopecky is one of those aging Slovaks to stay away from.

I agree with you. He probably does not make the team this year.

Anyway Reway is probably in so that alone should make for a deadly powerplay.

I actually think he could be useful for 4th line. He is too old/not good enough anymore for top 9, but with his frame he could be solid for the 4th line. Top 9 should be filled with younger players only (under 32 years or something like that) with the exceptions of Gaborik or Hossa (If they get kicked out in the playoffs)

Excited for Reway, the team gets immediately better with him in the line-up.
