Interesting redraft done of a very divided draft year. Top two stayed the same then some movement began. A new top 6 seemed to be pretty popular of Matthews, Laine, Tkachuk, Mcavoy, PLD and the Keller. Will be interesting to redo this in a couple a years and see how much our opinions changed.

Problem with doing this midseason is a guys hot or cold streak can effect these results. Think Ill hold off on doing these reDrafts til the summer if thats cool with people here.

Heres the results! :)

Not a bad list. However, I don't get why players like Juolevi and Bjorgstrom are ranked ahead of Puljujarvi. Juolevi hasn't played a game in the NHL, and Pulju scored 12 goals last year in only 65 games, in the NHL.

While i agree Juolevi went too high i cant control that people voted him that high. IMO hes not a 1st round talent

I remember watching Mcavoy getting drafted 14th overall, they were surprised Mcavoy was still available, he was listed to go between 5 -10 over all. At the time I really wanted Bean who was drafted 13 over all by Carolina. Thank you Carolina for drafting Bean.

McAvoy was consensus 12-18 range. Bobby Mac himself pegged him at 14.

Oh I could have sworn that he was pegged somewhere between 5-10, I must have been thinking of someone else. I'm sorry it was a honest mistake. You have to admit those who had him pegged between 12 - 18 were wrong

No worries man pre-draft rankings are kind of niche trivia lol. For sure they were wrong. I remember at the start of these people were voting him at 3 and I was like "seems a bit high" but, yeah, that's where he's at right now.

Very interesting. I think it shows outside the very top guys that the players in this draft are still very young and there will be a lot of volitility and movement even by this time next year.

Overall I don’t think it was the strongest first round but the very top is still outstanding. PLD has developed into a complete beast of a franchise center yet you can’t even be that mad he drops to 5 on this list (though I think the order of 2-5 is very debatable).

I’m just glade that Carolina drafted Bean 13th overall and not McAvoy. Don’t get me wrong there is nothing wrong with Bean, it just that as of right now McAvoy is more of a complete player but that could change Bean could have a break out year and become on of the best defencemen in the NHL. How would you like to be called Mr. Bean?

I feel like Tkachuk has taken over #2 in the draft over Laine, but PLD has really solidified all the reasons why Columbus took him at #3; so it's a little weird to see him dropped two spots.

There's plenty of space on the Alexander Nylander Island if you want to look very smart pretty soon.

Don't think it's a knock on Dubois. Every year players turn out better than their draft position. Dubois is still a very solid choice. Tkachuk and McAvoy have just played really well.

I'm biased but I'd go:

Matthews
Tkachuk
McAvoy
Laine
Dubois

All five are great players though. We could see those 2-5 swap places many times through their careers. We're just guessing based on how they look so far.
