New Lottery Rules for 2016

NHL announces changes to Draft Lottery format
Under phase-in plan, odds will be adjusted to reflect increasing competitive balance in 2015; Lottery will be expanded to determine first three selections in 2016

2016 NHL Draft Lottery

Beginning in 2016, the Draft Lottery will be utilized to assign the top three drafting slots in the NHL Draft, an expansion over previous years when the Draft Lottery was used to determine the winner of the first overall selection only.

Three draws will be held: the 1st Lottery draw will determine the Club selecting first overall, the 2nd Lottery draw will determine the Club selecting second overall and the 3rd Lottery draw will determine the club selecting third overall.

As a result of this change, the team earning the fewest points during the regular season will no longer be guaranteed, at worst, the second overall pick. That club could fall as low as fourth overall.

Yes, the Spitfire team mates. Brown is a stud and I know Stanley personally, both are giants and I'd love to have them.

Probably. Its going to change a lot by next summer, so it really doesnt matter. We should be on version 48 or so by then anyways, so we'll update the list then.

Way to early for me to know who I want. I need to see them play in their draft year to see how some have developed, regressed or whatever else in between.

Matthews to me is the #1 Franchise/generational player that will go #1... but who knows what happens.

Perhaps you could use Kadri and Kapanen to get one. Would Kadri, Kapanen and 21 be worth it to a team to give up 3 or 4 to try and get Chychrun or Clague. Too early to think about that though, plenty could happen between now and then.

I definitely think we'll be 28-30, so we'll have a good chance heading into the lottery. I just have no clue how we will score... Ever. We at time struggled to score WITH Kessel. Now we have to do it without him?

If Bozak and Phaneuf get moved...

This team is built right now to tank. Not even Babcock will be able to get this team out of the cellar.

Don't think Phaneuf is being moved.

But yeah, we're definitely going to struggle to score, however, we'll play better defense.

With that defense, not sure how Carolina will be competitive. Sucks that the crappy teams are all in the East now.
