The Brendan & Brad Show: That must have been a hard one for fans in Montreal and Boston to swallow — Brendan Gallagher and Brad Marchand, sworn enemies in hockey’s most bitter rivalry, arms thrown over each other’s shoulders as the victorious Canadian team celebrated its gold medal performance at the world championship.

Personally, it did my heart good to see Gallagher and Marchand together. We’re all Canadians first and everything else after. It’s also true that Marchand, the serial pest whose reputation for diving and cheap shots was fully justified, has emerged as a far better player than any of us thought he was.

When the puck drops in the fall, Gallagher and Marchand will be at each other’s throats again and fans in this city will hate the Boston star on sight, as Gallagher will be hated in Beantown.

But for one shining moment, they were a tandem. That’s as it should be.

My tickets were a gift actually. I was given one ticket on friday, but when Russia was eliminated I was given another. Tickets started at $350 in the cheap seats, where I was sitting I was told $2000 on the secondary market. Plenty of Finns wanted tickets, so it was a high price.

I really enjoy watching the WHC every year, I wish more NHL players would go over. I can understand if a guy is hurt, pending FA or maybe family things to deal with, but other than that players should be excited and jump at the chance to play for their country and get to see some great cities around the world as well.
