Speculation: 2016 "Free Wallet" Thread, aka: NCAA Unsigned Free Agent Tracker

Since the Sens are almost always in on at least one NCAA unsigned player, I figured it would be nice to track who signs where, and maybe follow some of the guys who we might be scouting.

Elliotte Friedman reported today that we might be the top suitors for Drake Caggiula, a 21 year old Senior out of UND.

It's a weak year for Free Wallets, but Caggiula is one of the higher names on the list, so it's no surprise we're out in front of that.

In case anyone hasn't heard of Caggiula - undersized LW with legit highlight skills amd plays with a chip on his shoulder the size of Yukon. Fast, accelerates like a porsche, and is equally good as a playmaker as he is at scoring.

Should we be excited about Caggiula?

I mean I can't say that many of these college players turned out anything more than meh for us, or anyone else for that matter.

Except Bozak I suppose, he was a college player and he's pretty solid.

I'd be excited for the free lotto ticket. Maybe he pans out, maybe he doesn't but he's had some pretty goals this season

I'm still high on O'Connor but SDC, Winchester and Butler were all absolutely forgettable (yes, SDC had great hands)

Winchester was a solid bottom 6 player until injuries though, I'll give him that: he was Schaefer like along the boards!

Danny DeKeyser was a college UFA, I think. Chris Kunitz, too. Definitely more misses than hits but you uncover the odd gem.
