With the 196th pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, the Detroit Red Wings are proud to select, from the Red Deer Rebels in the Western Hockey League, LW Brandon Hagel

493960128-brandon-hagel-of-red-deer-rebels-skates-gettyimages.jpg

1(16) - Kieffer Bellows LW, 6'1", 194lbs, USA U18 (NTDP)
2(46) - Adam Fox RD, 5'10", 183lbs, USA U18 (NTDP)
4(106) - Veini Vehviläinen G, 6'1", 183lbs, JYP (Liiga)
5(136) - Jake Ryczek RD, 5'10", 165lbs, Waterloo Black Hawks (USHL)
6(166) - Kristian Reichel C, 6'0", 168lbs, HC Litvinov (CZE)
7(196) - Brandon Hagel LW, 6'0", 165lbs, Red Deer Rebels (WHL)

GM Ken Holland on the pick, "Brandon (Hagel)'s a kid who was able to play in the Memorial Cup this year on a very underrated team. He's one the youngest guys in the draft, being born in late August and he put up goo numbers playing in a limited role." When asked about Hagel's skill set, "He's good at everything, even great when you're talking about his work ethic. He's a bit of a late bloomer, but he's also still young. We see him as a bit undersized but we can definitely fix that."

With their last pick of the draft the Philadelphia Flyers select, from Georgetown Raiders, OJHL, defenseman Matthew Cairns.

Matthew-Cairns-640x426.jpg

Future Considerations said:
Cairns is a highly intelligent, two-way defender who impacts the game in all three zones. In his own zone, he shows excellent awareness and strong positional play. Using strong positioning and an active stick, he shows impressive contain with the ability to separate the player from the puck with relative ease. Offensively, this rearguard sees the ice well, and shows an ability create from the back end by effectively creating shooting lanes and injecting himself into the play at the appropriate times. A defender that exudes confidence, he could easily fit into most OHL teams’ top four defensively right now. He is a relatively low-upside player, but also a solid bet to play in the NHL with his skill set.

That concludes the Flyers draft. Very happy with the guys I got. Couldn't have gone much better really. Thought I got quality prospects throughout round 1-7.

Okay, Paneerboy sent me a PM and said "Just choose a random player that's still available in the draft and basically announce that as Minnesota's selection. Or write that Minnesota needs an auto pick." TT1 since you are looking for an extra pick do you want to make the pick for Minn?
