It seems they are getting earlier with the schedule every year.

Interesting to note that Acadia has 4 exhibition games booked already.

After UNB games I started looking for STU when I realized.......

30 Game AUS Schedule

Likes :handclap:
- 30 games (2 more than any other conference)
- single game weekends (gives a team some recovery time)

Dislikes :shakehead
- supposed cap on Exhibition games (6)
- supposed 'offical' start date of Sept 26th (removes one weekend from the schedule)
> Acadia has games scheduled for the 24/25 so this maybe off the table now.
- playing on Thanksgiving weekend
> removes a second chance to go to the US
- playing on Jan. 7/8 which likely means no Pete Kelly Cup for UNB.
> Jan 1 travel/Jan 2&3 play/Jan 4 return then 2 days before you might play again? Not a lot of teams looking to do that.

From a UNB perspective - I like that we get the extra home game vs Acadia and SMU in the first year.

UNB played on Jan 2nd/3rd last year for the Pete Kelly and then resumed the regular season on the 8th. I would think they could do something similar this year. Obviously they wouldn't be traveling so the opponent (most likely an OUA team) would have to make it work around their schedule, though.

True - that was Sat/Sun 2-3 with a home game the next Friday (8th) with 5 days of rest

This season it would be Mon/Tue 2-3 with a home game on the Friday (6th) with 3 days of rest.

A bit tight for UNB, possibly too tight for any OUA team to be interested, but an OUA team with a home game on Sunday would work (just have to convince them).

The AUS Office confirmed the following.

- max of 6 exhibition games

- no exhibition games during the 1st or 2nd half (no Exhibition games from the start of the 1st half to the 'last regular season league game of the first half' and again in the 2nd half. So, play your Exhibition games before the season starts or at Christmas.

I guess that means no one's playing an Ivy school again.

- The first day of exhibition competition for men’s hockey is fourteen (14) days following Labour Day (i.e. for 2016: Monday, September 19).

These changes will be updated in the new Playing Regulations that come out in June.

I wonder if UNB would do the 30th/31st of December for the Pete Kelly games....I think that's what they did for the Russia games.

They also played UoOttawa on the 30/31st.

I guess every option is available - it's just a matter of finding a dance partner.

A US team would be nice as well - go 31/1 and they can celebrate NYE in a country where the legal age is 19:yo: (not that they'd be allowed to drink - team rules I'm sure, but ...)

The schedule wasn't as "wonky" as I thought it would be...it looks pretty good considering the odd-number of teams.

One thing I realized for UNB is that they don't have any stretches of 3 games-in-4 days this year (so no Wed/Fri/Sat)...any time they play Wednesday they only play once the following weekend. I don't know if this applies to every team, but if so it is a smart move.

Hey ladies, the schedule affects all of the AUS, not just UNB. Yes, it's sad that UNB can't play 10 ex games, but neither can everyone else. You get to see 2 more games than last year and that is a good thing.

Not really. It is 2 more games against an opponent we see all the time.

Lakeheads 16/17 schedule, some tough games but a lot easier than last season. Also 2 exhibition series to start the year against lethbridge and Manitoba. some 3 games weekends on the road could be tough.
