why didn't Robitaille & co wear Kings jerseys? Looked like Gretzky was in Oiler attire

If Kings trade Muzzin how would they handle the expansion draft? Still protect 4 d? Doughty, Martinez, McNabb and Forbort? At forward, Kopitar, Carter, Pearson, Toffoli, , but leaves Dowd out there?

I like Dowd but are you really concerned with losing Dowd? I'm concerned with losing Top 6 Forwards and Top 4 Dmen only. Depth is always nice and crucial in Sutter's system as we've seen this season but Dowd is not a key to success. If a Landeskog for Muzzin or some other Dman is made it signals to me that Lombardi is in love with McNabb which I don't understand in the least.

Also, the problem with Landeskog would remain.... ie., why trade for Landeskog if he's not gunna be protected in the expansion draft? Kings would have to protect....

Kopitar
Carter
Pearson
Toffoli
Landeskog

.....UNLESS.....

Pearson is part of that deal. If it's Muzzin/Pearson for Landeskog/Iginla, then DL protects....

Kopitar
Carter
Toffoli
Landeskog

Doughty
Martinez
McNabb
Forbort

Quick

.....with the belief that the Knights taking either Iginla, Brown, or Gaborik won't hurt us.....

Iginla is UFA.

At the start of the season.

If I told you Trevor Lewis would have two more goals, and only be two points behind Kopitar(with Kopitar playing similar amount of games), 40 games in, your response ?

Kopitar has one single goal, in his last 29 NHL games.

It's a miracle the Kings are in a playoff hunt still.

I had a feeling Lewis was going to break out this year! :naughty:

There's a lot that's happened this year that if you had said it in August, it's season over. Where does one even begin? Quick out for all but 1 period. Greene playing in over half the games. Doughty not at a Norris level. Muzzin, I guess Muzzining? Kopitar with as many goals as Shore, and fewer than Brown. Gaborik currently on pace for 7 goals. Lewis with more 5v5 points than Kopitar. Lewis and King with the same number of 5v5 goals as Toffoli. Brown looking at 8 goals this year, which would be even worse than other recent seasons. He's got 1 goal 5v5, and when was the last time he was close to scoring another one? The team with a handful of more losses than wins in regulation. Any one of those things would've sent us to our panic rooms, let alone all of them at the same time.

Carter, 3v3 OT, and Budaj having a career year is keeping them in the race. Carter is playing well above his career average in goals, points, and sh%. On the other hand, a lot of guys are below their career averages in all of those categories. If Carter comes back down to Earth, someone else has to step up, but Carter and Nolan have already made their feelings known how that's been going.

Been a disjointed season. I think most if not all of us figured this year would be like that, but theory is always different than practice. Especially when some questions come from unexpected places. For example, I think we all had Doughty and Muzzin as, ok, if all else fails, at least we know the top 2 guys will be solid.

Any interest in Vanek? I know there are question marks regarding his attitude, etc. but hes having a great season, would be an ideal winger for Kopitar and would not cost a lot to get him. Thoughts?

Probably going to be one of the best wings available at the deadline. Going to cost a first round pick +. Kings shouldn't do that.

Would have been a much more solid signing than Purcell this past summer. Low risk, high reward. Instead we got low risk, low reward as usual.

Ended up going to a team relatively close to the state of Minnesota, where his wife is from, and blah, blah, blah. Maybe he didn't want to be on the west coast? Maybe he doesn't care, who knows. Maybe he asked Lombardi for a 2 year/$6m deal for the added travel and distance from home? Maybe $4m for 1 year? Or, maybe Lombardi dropped the ball again too.

orrrrr maybe he's a chronic ghost act with character and health issues who people would have complained about the moment we were linked to him.

The guy has worn down his welcome in every city and his own national team and people want him to play under Sutter?

This!

Thomas Vanish? No thanks. And I can't see DL being that desperate, no way.

Hell no. He's got zero heart for the playoffs. You'd be better off putting a jelly donut on the ice. At least the donut might distract someone on the other team for a second.
