It's interesting watching the Caps D prepare for the game by bouncing pucks off the backboards to find the sweet spot (they just showed that on CBC). Imagine the current Avs D trying to do that. It's like teaching a 2 year old advanced calculus.

He is an UFA. As are Fehr, Ward, and Glencross. All good bottom six players. Beagle would obviously be the cheapest option though.
