You'd give up that for Eriksson? I wouldn't. I'd swap Kunitz + Uher for him, that'd be it.

I didn't say I would do it (I might) but I'm thinking you might be able to land Eriksson with Sutter & Harrington. He has been pretty useless in Boston but is not that far away from a few 70 pt + seasons, and they have a new GM and "direction" in Boston.

But hey, if we could get him for Kuntiz+ I would much prefer that.

Eriksson is a shell of himself since suffering a bunch of concussions - we don't need a younger version of Kunitz. Big pass from me on that one..

Last thing we need is another guy who has suffered a ton of head injuries. Erikkson is one of those guys.

After all the injury problems this franchise has incurred, he is literally the last person I want to see on this roster.

What's the deal with all these crappy comparisons? First, I see Sharp compared to Kunitz (not you, someone else), and now Eriksson compared to Kunitz. Both of these comparisons are terrible. Eriksson especially, he's not comparable at all to Kunitz other than neither are as good as they once were.

I'm comparing him in a sense to Kunitz in that his game has totally fallen off a cliff.

2-3 years ago would I want Kunitz? Yes

2-3 years ago would I want Erikson? Yes

Now? Hell no.

I'd consider Sharp if the cost was reasonable, for sure. 5.9m cap hit but only for the next two seasons. Had a down year but I don't think he's done completely.

Does he fit the mix in the top 6 though? We need to add speed and forechecking to Crosby, Malkin, Hornqvist and Perron. Hornqvist and Perron aren't exactly speedsters.

What about Martin St.Louis? That is a name that wasn´t mentioned here at all but he could come on a 1-year deal. Sure, he´s 40 but he can still play. That said, probably not.. but I am throwing it here.

The other FAs I would look at are Fehr, Beagle, Soderberg, Matthias, Beleskey and Frolik. Latest info about Frolik is that he´s probably gonna sign a deal with the Jets pretty soon though.

Loui is not the player he used to be. We should not be looking at going after him.

If I went after any winger on Boston it'd be the rat. Speed, pest, goes to the net, great playoff guy.

This team needs speed and needs players who aren't always injured.

Eriksson isn't the player he used to be, but I wouldn't throw him in the same category as Kunitz. Eriksson can still skate and he only missed 1 game this year. As for "a ton of head injuries" if I'm not mistaken he's only had two concussions and his production fell off the year before he had those two concussions.

He's a 45-50 point player. That's high end second liner production in today's NHL. Put him next to Crosby and he's a 55-60 point player.

This. St. Louis said he would only accept a trade to the Rangers a few years ago. He is their spiritual leader and I would bet if he wants to continue playing that him and the Rangers will find a way to make a deal.

CHI and PIT aren't great trading partners unless PIT wants to trade Pouliot or Harrington (waiver exempt defensemen) or picks. They could potentially be interested in Dumoulin or Cole as cheap defensemen but not as the main part of the package.

Similarly, PIT and BOS aren't great trade partners either. BOS needs young cheap talent.

Do you feel the same way about Letang and his head injuries?

Because Eriksson since becoming an NHL regular in 08-09 has missed a total of 25 games. That's 7 seasons worth of games an only missed 25 games. 21 of those coming two season ago due to the concussions. He played 81 games this past season. Stating that Eriksson is somehow injury prone is just flat out inaccurate.

If I could get rid of Kunitz and get Eriksson as replacement I'd do it in a second.

St. Louis probably won't leave NYR and the only team he'd go to is NYI...he basically damaged his legacy in Tampa to get closer to his family in Connecticut, so I don't see him coming to the Burgh. We shouldn't go after him anyways he's basically about to fall off a cliff soon and it won't be a pretty end out here.

My options to pursue through trade.....Sharp or Seabrook. Hawks are in a cap crunch probably will get rid of 1 maybe both as Seabrook will be looking for a big payday as a FA next year. I'd love to get Seabrook more so than Sharp but both are upgrades and won't cost as much due to the fact the Hawks can't take on much salary or numerous draft picks.

Also how about some trade options for bad contracts:

Scuderi for Richards? Lecavlier? Semin? obviously with the other teams retaining salary..

Absolutely - Letang is 1 bad hit away from never playing the game again. Erikson could be in that category too. Last thing we need is two guys who are vulnerable like that.

Eriksson did play a full season this year, but he simply hasn't been the same since suffering those concussion issues. He had suffered multiple concussions in a short span of time, much like Ehrhoff. I feel for the guy - but at the same time I wouldn't trade for him unless it was an absolute bargain.

[yinzer]How can yinz not re-sign Adams!? He's a true Pixburgher! He works hard! He sacrifices! He puts on his hard hat and carries his lunch pail to work just like everyone in this tahn does! Yinz got too many jagoffs running the Pens n'at![/yinzer]

Was this even mentioned yet? I heard about this earlier today and thought this would have it's own thread

How mad will this board be if this is a gateway to sign Chad LaRose? :sarcasm::laugh:

I wouldn't say no to bringing in Eriksson, even though he's not as good as he was a couple years ago. However, I'd much rather bring in Marchand if we're talking about Boston wingers, maybe even Lucic over Eriksson.

That's just even more incentive to make a move for Marchand

But seriously, I'd love Marchand here. Marchand-Crosby-Hornqvist...the tears would be glorious.

I'd prefer Marchand over Lucic. Will cost less, and Marchand can get under players skin and still put up goals and points.
