Isn't the 1000 post limit arbitrary now? I thought they fixed the indexing problems it causes

It's older than the recent board issues. And even still it's been kept in place to just keep things streamlined and organized. It's harder to wade through threads that are 1000s of posts long.

All I know is that we've never been told to stop swapping threads at 1000 posts, and in fact the last time someone asked about it, we were explicitly told to keep doing it. So it will continue to be done until I hear otherwise.
