Don't have a 2nd round pick. Leafs gonna Leaf. I think one of LA/Chicago has our 2nd round pick...or Anaheim. I am confused but I know we don't have it.

Edit: Columbus Blue Jackets have our 2nd round pick because they got it in the Marian Gaborik trade.

For our 2nd pick.

2nd pick.

Two firsts. The first 1st is the 1st. The second 1st is the 2nd to which he is referring.

Oh. I reading too quick. I just 2nd pick and inferred 2nd round pick.

I think we will get a ~45-50 pick with Winnik trade though so that should be something we can speculate about soon.

With this draft, the quality of players available means any pick from 30-50 is gonna be about the same as your typical 1st rounder. Having three top 50 picks would be a coup for us. Like i mean "the first round" is about 50 picks deep.

Sorry for the confusion. It was our 2nd pick acquired from Nashville. Harkins would be worthy consideration.

Crouse will be an elite player below the goal line no matter what league he is in... He is an elite player for cycling and forechecking...His two way play is also good... Even if he is not an offensive catalyst he could easily play with offensive catalysts and help there cycle game and create space for them. He could easily play a 3rd line role well, but he could also be be a guy who helps a line with more skilled players... I'd say every line needs a cycle specialist who is just unreal downlow, Crouse would be perfect for that role on a line. IMO he is a top 6er and a guy who is going to be extremely valuable to whoever drafts him.. But yeah this draft is pretty stacked not saying id take him top 10 but around 11 or 12 easily.

blaw ...that almost describes Clarkson

I only see his size emphasized hugely by people who don't like him. But anyway, I have to disagree with you about the advantage of size "disappearing" in the NHL. I see every game how players are able to use size to good effect- not so much our players unfortunately.

You are free to dislike Strome of course, but his skill is impressive and shouldn't lightly be ignored.

I wonder if you are exaggerating the "problem" of his skating. My sense is that he is very strong on his skates in a way that will be a big advantage when the play is established in the offensive zone. In that case I would say it's a strength, especially because he plays a style of slowing down the game a la Thornton.

On the rush, or back checking, he has a long slower-looking stride not all that different than I remember Sundin having. I would not call his skating a strength here, but at most I'd say it's mild issue. He's certainly not terrible.

That's my read anyway.

Perhaps, but he's still my bet of the surprise prospect who drops out of the top 5 this year. In my opinion, scouts have shifted over to placing a high premium on skating and hockey IQ in the past few years.

Surprises do happen sometimes, so it will be interesting to see. :)

I don't know much about these players... but is this guy projected to go 4th overall now? Is it because he's so big?

I'd still rather draft Strome or Marner... they're centers who are putting up a ton of points, which is what we need.

Endorsed by Doug Gilmour, he must be a good one! Let's get him after we get McDavid! ;)

His size is why people like him so much... When he is there around the 18-15 rage we take him 4th or 5th your on something that i would love .....

terrible writing in this article, couldn't get through it.

I was about to say the same. I know it is picky, but the information looks less reliable when there are spelling and grammar mistakes all over it.

"Crouse was a players the Kingston Frontenacs targeted right away..." Why is 'players' plural? This is the 2nd sentence in the article!

I get annoyed seeing mistakes like this in my own message board posts. But when I see it in attempts at legit journalism, it makes me cringe.

Strome
Barzal
Marner

In that order. No more, no less.

there are a few defenseman who look absolutely filthy. i really think at a minimum they should be in the discussion. we need a stud center but its not like we dont need a stud defenseman as well. bottom line the leafs need everything so we need to go for bpa. i personally wouldnt be too bummed out if the leafs took prorovov or werenski.
