Teams use it to be able to watch as many of the young guys as possible as quickly as possible. At that point it isn't about winning its about seeing guys play.

They said the schedule was already in place before the Cleveland deal. I'm sure they will next year and I hope they do every year so that we have one less game to buy.

If you notice the split squad games are always early in the preseason too...

And once again, the games in Florida are horrible for a road trip

Also, why are the Jackets closing out the season against Chicago and not an Eastern Division rival?

I see very few great road trip ideas...Chicago on 10/17, Boston in 1/23, Nashville 3/26, Philly 12/5....and that's about it...

The Lake Erie home opener is October 16, bummed that the Jackets also have a home game that night.

We finally get a Columbus Day day game! To bad it's in the wrong city.

Completely missed that we have an afternoon game on a Monday, October 12 in Buffalo for Columbus Day.

Seems kind of odd that we finally play one of these early games on that holiday and it's not in COLUMBUS.

Longest "stretch away from home" is 4 games in late March/early April but all close to Columbus. Also I guess right before/after the All Star break with MTL before and the western Canadian trip after the break. The California road trip is in early November.

Very road heavy from October-December, but mostly home games in February and March. I like that.

We had one many seasons ago against Vancouver....wanna say 02-03 or 03-04.....they should give a "Columbus day" home game to the team from Columbus though!
