By whatever statistical yardstick you use, possession stats, faceoffs, pp, blown third period leads and overall scoring, the Canucks were one of the worst teams in hockey....how does anyone get an 'A'?...I'd give the goalies a B, the Sedins a B-minus, but if you take the season in totality, virtually everyone else went through prolonged slumps, including guys like Horvat, Baertschi, Edler and Tanev...The rookies were 'in and out' with Hutton maybe earning a C-plus; and guys like like Dorsett, Sbisa, Bartkowski and Weber et al, were unmitigated disasters.....C-minuses and D's would be about all I'd give the lot of them.

The witch hunt on Weisbrod is quite bizarre.

I am as low as can be on this management group but we have no evidence of anything Weisbrod has done to merit such frequent attacks.

Agree here. How the average grade can rise above D for a team that finished 28th overall is beyond me.

Because it was a poorly put together team.

When a GM builds a team of junk, the junk can all play at an A-level relative to their own expectations, and the team can still stink. Don't blame the junk. Blame the idiot who thought the junk he assembled was a good team.

Was about to say it's amazing how a team with so many As and Bs managed to finish 28th ...

An 'A' should be reserved for being one of the best in the league. No way were any of our players amongst the best in the league this season.

Obviously some Bs for our better players, but should mostly be Cs, Ds, and Fs.

Grade them based on individual effort and situations relative to what season you thought they were going to have. Weber was garbage all year, bart was bad defensively but put up decent numbers with the role he was put into, Sedins played very well for the first half of the season but hank couldnt score a goal to save his life etc

Not going to compile a list. This season was a disaster from top to bottom. From incompetence to buffoonery.

OK...I'm game....but I thought 'player grades' were based on 'results' not 'try'?....I'm sure lots of guys on this club 'tried hard', but come on....they set a franchise futility mark for goals and their goal differential was the worst in the entire NHL, surpassed only the Leafs and they don't count because they were in full tank mode....the scary thing...most of these guys 'put up the seasons most posters thought they'd have...and without the goalies standing on their heads many nights, they'd have been even worse...I guess the only silver lining is guys like Sutter, Sbisa and Hamhuis get an 'incomplete' because of injury.

It's not about try it's about setting realistic expectations for each player.

If I put together a team of nothing but 4th line scrubs is it fair to give them all F's when none of them manages to crack 15 goals? Each player is graded based on what should be a reasonable expectation of the player given his role/contract.

The fact that a lot of players played as well as could be reasonably expected and the team still sucked is an indictment of the people who constructed the team, not of the players themselves.

Does Hansen deserve an F because he only had 22 goals and we need him to score 50 for us to be competitive? Of course not. For the role/salary, he had a terrific season. Not his fault that he carried so much weight because the rest of the team was junk.

This is the best list so far. I'd make a couple tweaks, but overall you nailed it.

Absolutely. This team has one of the highest payrolls in the league and is one of the worst in the standings. The players didn't live up to contracts or roles.

This is the best one so far imo. The bolded guys aren't talked about enough as a big reason the team sucked.

Close. Just a little more generous than mine, yours is a little more generous youth/expectations.
