There was a request to create a new thread for the season and another to place the results of the prospect polls in the OP, both of which I thought were good ideas.

With the CHL officially starting last night and first action from our prospects tonight figured this was the perfect time.

One more time I'll share the article I wrote previewing each of our CHL prospects and their teams to begin the season. I hope to do something similar periodically. Let me know, I know I dump a lot of info in this thread and don't expect many to do the same but if I get zero feedback then I don't know if what I'm posting is even interesting.

All of our Q prospects have games tonight. What I've been able to glean is that Nantel and Beaudin are expected to play even on the same line and Meloche is as well. I read that Boikov is not and haven't found anything on Pepin. Seems like all the prospects will be heading to Denver on Saturday.

One last game before camp? I hope they don't get hurt in any way. That would be a bummer not to be able to see them next week, especially Nantel since he couldn't skate last year.

Val-d'Or won 7-3 but Pepin went pointless. He did have a fight though.

Drummondville beat Baie-Comeau 6-3. Boikov was +2 with an assist and 2 PIM while Meloche scored on the PP and 2 PIM as well.

Rouyn-Noranda won 3-2 in OT. Beaudin went pointless but Nantel was +1 with 2 assists.

Solid start to the year for most of our Q guys before camp starts up.

Real season, the Q do what they want. Olhaver playing for Seattle was preseason.

Huskies game was super fun to watch, that's going to be a real fun team to follow this season. I love how aggressive Nantel is, he is at like 110% all the time. He must have had at least 5 short handed shots. Beaudin slows the game down, is a smart passer. Those two work well together and were out on the same PP and PK units. They might be on different lines when they get their teammates back though.

Huskies had 54 SOG, Nantel had 12, next closest was Beaudin at 6. Those two are going to get a lot of points.

Meloche's goal was a nice shot from the left side on the pp. He had the most shots for his team at 5.

So Aitokallio is going to be back with our AHL affiliate instead of going to Europe? (just saw an edit on that free agent signings sticky thread on the main boards)

I only watched a period and a half or so, but Nantel is always playing at full speed. Skating and putting the puck on the net. Beaudin looked decent but Nantel was the better player in this game.

He's so aggressive, it's fun to watch. But it's good, he's always trying to make something happen. Sometimes he gets fumbleiitis as he's trying to even faster but he really was the most dangerous player in that game. Drew a penalty by refusing to give up on a play, chased a guy down on the PK at the other end if the ice and stole the puck, etc.

Rouyn-Noranda are playing today, so perhaps that was the reason for sending back both Nantel and Beaudin so quickly. They'll gain more from playing for their Q team at this point.

Great return for Nantel+Beaudin. Rouyn-Noranda won 6-5 in OT(Beaudin scored the winner)

Nantel had 1G+1A and Beaudin 2G+1A.

Nantel's goal was on the PP. Beaudin made a slap pass to a teammate who missed the net but hit the end boards and went straight to Nantel for a fairly easy goal. Nantel's assist was off a faceoff where he passed back to the point and the D-man scored through a screen.

Beaudin's assist was on Nantel's goal. His 1st goal was a snipe. He shot from the high slot and went post+in blocker side. His 2nd goal was on a 2-on-1. Francis Perron baited the D-man over then passed over to Beaudin who buried it to win the game.

I was watching while preparing and eating supper. I missed the second half of the third and OT though. I like Beaudin a lot. He will have a great season I think. He is very smart with the puck.
