No Gotovets?

And what happened to Sergei Kolosov? Used to be an AHL regular, but has spent parts of this year in the Belarus 2nd league and in Poland. Wow..

That's a preliminary roster. For example the goalies will be Vital Koval (Salavat Yulaev, KHL) and Kevin Lalande (CSKA, KHL), but they're not on the list.

Gotovets was called up from the ECHL to the Rockford IceHogs today, they probably won't release him.
Kolosov has regressed, he couldn't get a spot on his Belarusian team, was moved to the farm-club and then went to Poland.

What about Lalande or Platt?

Lalande will play, Platt declined invitation cause he's getting married during the WC. Obviously he couldn't schedule his wedding after the WC...

Any unsung heroes in this squad who will catch the eyes of scouts?

None. All of them are playing either in the KHL or in North America and well known.
After the KHL semifinals Efimenko (Siberia), Stas (CSKA) and Lalande has joined the squad. Denisov and S.Kastitsyn will play in the KHL finals for AkBars.
They expect Hrabarenka and Yevenko to arrive when the AHL season is over.

Hrabarenka was there last year. Assuming Albany don't qualifiy for the post season, could he be called up for the WC ?

Hrabarenka was called up and wanted to play, but the Devils front office has advised him to stay away from the tournament. He wants to get a spot on the Devils roster next season so he's decided to listen to Lamorello and won't come.

Looks like Yevenko (Adirondack Flames, AHL), S.Kastitsyn, K.Koltsov and Denisov (all AkBars) are coming.

They're still missing at least a whole line that could be a top-6 at the WC:
Hrabarenka-Gotovets, Platt-Grabovsky-Ugarov.

Grabo won't come even if the Islanders are out of play-offs. The NYI management is concerned about his health.

A "mercenary" Lalande was a starting goalie for a greatest Russian hockey club ever, but has a profile picture in Belarus jersey and seems happy to be back in Minsk.

That's unfortunate. Hrabarenka would eat minutes for Belarus and play in all situations against good competition. It would have been good for his development. From what I saw from last year, he was very good for Belarus. This season I was surprised he wasn't called up until the second last game of the season. Devils fans on HF seemed happy with his debute too.

Kastitsyn brothers and Drozd just destroyed Norway in the friendly game. 5:1 Belarus. Lalande was in the net.

Koltsov(AkBars) refused to play without explanation.
Denisov(AkBars) is not coming cause his wife just had a newborn baby. Congrats and good luck.

The defense is gonna be atrocious. Hrabarenka, Gotovets and Denisov, probably the best three defensemen in the country right now, aren't coming. Shinkevich and Nogachev are injured. Only Lisovets, Korobov, Stasenko and Goroshko have played in the KHL last season. Plus Yevenko from the AHL. Hopefully 20 years old Lisovets is ready to eat big minutes.

Lalande (CSKA, KHL)
Brikun (Homel, Extraleague)

Lisovets (Dinamo Minsk, KHL) - Karev (Shakhter, Extraleague)
Shinkevich (Dinamo Minsk, KHL) - Goroshko (Dinamo Minsk, KHL)

Offense:
S.Kastitsyn (AkBars, KHL) — Kalyuzhny (Dinamo Minsk, KHL) — А.Kastitsyn (Sochi, KHL)
Stepanov (Dinamo Minsk, KHL) — Kavyrshin (Severstal, KHL) — Кulakov (Dinamo Minsk, KHL)

Thank you! Who is set to become the backup goalie? Milchakov or still Goryachevskikh?

Koval (from Salavat Yulaev) is injured so far, but he should get healthy soon. That's between him and Lalande to be a starter. And Goryachevskikh is already cut off from the team.

I just noticed Gavrus was on the team. How has he been in the KHL?

Any chance he can turn into a player for the Devils or is that likely out of the question?

I don't watch KHL, but Gavrus was a bottom 6 forward in Minsk. Looks like he's got injured and questionable for the WC.

Karev is cut off, Ustinenko from Homel will take his place.

Their defense looks like a Ukrainian team: Ustinenko, Usenko, Yevenko, Goroshko, Stasenko... Too bad Hrabarenko is not coming.

Belarus minister of sports said that Grabovski will play 99%.

That's so nice of the NHL teams to care about Belarusian players health while they don't give a damn about Russians, Canadians etc.
Both Grabovski and Hrabarenko wanted to play, but NJD and NYI don't allow them to go. And no one cares about crosbey's and malkin's.
After Kalyuzhny got injured at practice Belarus is gonna miss at least 12 players. So much for making the competition interesting. S.Kastitsyn will play at center with his brother and Gavrus on the wings. Both Lisovets and Ustinenko are 20 years old and top-6 on this team... :help:

How has Stasenko looked? I watched him a lot in Russia this year. He's a quality player.
He's the best defenseman on the team so far. Belarusian media has named top-5 players after 3 games and he is the only D on the list. The Stasenko(6'5") and Yevenko (6'7") pair is probably the biggest at the WC.
