Team USA defenseman Steven Santini's last appearance at a World Junior Championship, the 2013 U18 WJC back in April of last year, was a memorable one. In addition to winning the gold medal along with his USA teammates, Santini also was named that tournament's Best Defenseman.
But Santini's experience at the 2014 U20 WJC was probably not what he nor his teammates had hoped for as the USA dropped a quarterfinal match to Russia, 5-3, ending the USA's hopes of repeating as U20 gold medalists. While the team didn't play poorly at this tournament, untimely penalties hurt the team against Russia as well as in their prior game against Canada.… read more
