After suffering a surprising loss to the Czech Republic in the second game of the preliminary round, Canada circled the wagons and gutted out a pair of wins, over Slovakia and the USA, to take the top seed in Group A at the 2014 World Junior Championship.
The deciding win of Canada's opening round came against Team USA in the final game, a tight, 3-2 regulation win. Two goals in the third period, one by Connor McDavid and the winner by Curtis Lazar, provided the win for the Canadians.
Lazar, a forward for the Edmonton Oil Kings and an Ottawa Senators prospect, has had a productive tournament so far for Canada.… read more
