After losing out to Canada in last year's gold medal game at the IIHF U18 World Championship, Team USA defeated the Czech Republic, 5-2, to earn their fifth gold medal in six years at this event.
The U.S. jumped out to a 3-1 lead over the Czechs in the first period and never looked back. Forward Auston Matthews scored two goals in the win, while Jack Dougherty, Sonny Milano, and Dylan Larkin tallied the other markers. The U.S. outshot the Czechs, 41-17
