From the last poll:Ritchie takes #4 with around 35% of the vote, despite a late comeback by Andersen. Psst - Andersen is an option, folks.

Each poll be open for 48 hours. If it's not close after 24 hours, I'll call it. If it is, it'll go the full 48. In the event of a tie after 48 hours, a 24-hour runoff will be held. The winner will get the open spot; the loser will go back into the pool, not get the next-lowest rank. The poll will go up to #25. Players are in the poll on the basis of HF's prospect criteria. Essentially, skaters with less than 65 games before the season of their 24th birthday, or goalies with less than 45 games before the season of their 24th birthday, are considered prospects. There are some nuances with respect to older-signed players, but I believe that applies only to Farragher and Andersen, who can remain a prospect for a bit yet.

Vote on players using whatever criteria you like. This isn't the readiness poll or the talent poll or the most-likely-to-be-best poll per se, it's just a survey of who we as Duck fans like.

Why is Andersen an option? Shouldn't he have graduated?
:sarcasm:

I still have Kerdiles above Andersen, even though I probably shouldn't. I think Andersen's upside is "good starter." But how do you compare that to "good 2nd liner?"

I dunno. I'd say a "good starter" has a much longer career arc than a good second liner. But good second liners are harder to come by these days.

Doesn't make sense to not vote for Freddie here even though he is by all intents and purposes our starter for the time being, which I'd call a graduate but whatever. Him and then Kerdiles.

Yup. Nice to see.

It's also interesting that this is the case even with the recent graduations: Lindholm, Etem, DSP, Silfverberg.

And Holland traded away. Looking at last year's poll, the top 13 all have a good chance of being good NHLers. I don't think we're that deep this year, but it's still close even without those guys.

Here's a good way to see it: If your best player on the ice is the "good starter" in net, then you can win more games than if your best player on the ice for all forwards is a "good 2nd liner".

Actually, this year in Norfolk provided a good example of having a "good starter" with a numerous amounts of "good 2nd/3rd liners".
