What do we address first? I'll guess Yzerman gets the backup goalie out of the way quick.

anticipation is killing mee, a little more than an hr left... Hoping for Erhoff on a reasonable contract.

Me too. I wouldn't want to pay what is needed to get Niskanen or Strålman. Both players will get hugely overpaid because of the weak defensemal pool available. I'd rather get one defenseman by a trade if possible if we can't get Ehrhoff.

What the negotiation period actually means has yet to be seen. There may just be a dump of signings coming right after noon.

Wouldn't be surprised if Yzerman has a trade in his back pocket that he's waiting on to make sure he has other pieces (UFAs) in place.

I assume that's what we'll see. I think Iginla, for instance, will have his mind made up by noon, since it's less about money than fit. Some other players (Stastny?) might try to play teams off each other.

I don't think I was explicit enough. At noon, I want transactions to spew from all the league's orifices.

Looks like Spezza to Dallas. Dodged that bullet.

Gotta love the job that Nill is doing there - in 12-13 their best center was, uh, Derek Roy? Now they have 1-2 punch of Seguin and Spezza.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie
DAL trades Alec Chiasson, Alex Guptill, Nicholas Paul and 2nd round pick in 2015 to OTT for Jason Spezza and Ludvig Karlsson. #TSN

Certainly did dodge that one.

And I'm happy he's out of the division. Only have to see him twice a year now.

Gotta think Stastny ends up in STL now.

Sportsnet (millard?) just said there would be more trades than we're used to on FA day.

This Sportsnet feed is garbo. Why would NHLN choose Sportsnet over TSN?

Kypreos is a bit annoying, but he's underrated as an insider. His news is usually legit. Not McKenzie or anything, but I think he's a lot better than his reputation.

I'm hoping for Montoya, Moore, and Fayne/Scuderi today. I wouldn't mind Boyle either, as long as he's on a bonus-heavy contract. Winnik is also very tempting, but I feel like someone is going to pay huge dollars for him.

Bob McKenzie is also on his retirement contract. Elliote Friedman is probably going to be the big name once he's done, and SN was wise to get him.
