Just read my predictions for the 2011 draft and thought we should do a capsule for 2014 as well. Albeit a small class this could still be fun.

Andreas Englund Becomes Gryba 2.0 Plays with us for 7 years and does well. Serves as a replacement after we win the Stanley Cup.
Miles Gendron Mike Lundin 2.0 Plays with Ottawa for several years but doesnt pan out Picard style.
Shane Eiserman Becomes a third liner with Ottawa
Kelly Summers AHL 3-4 for Bingo
Francis Perron Has a shot with the NHL and does well as a bottom sixer for several hundred games.

Bonus!

Legwand, becomes a legendary third line center for Ottawa and helps us make a run to the ECF

Englund - becomes a Methot/Hjalmarsson for us, playing in our top 4 and becoming our main PKer and shutdown specialist.
Gendron - 5 years from now finally makes the NHL and becomes a solid bottom pairing defenseman that can play on the powerplay
Eiserman - has a successful college career and plays well enough in Bingo to warrant a call-up but never makes the NHL full-time
Summers - has a solid college career but never gets a shot in the NHL with better defensemen in the system
Perron - busts after his offensive-oriented game fails to translate to the pro level

This thread is a very good example of how people have to temper their expectations and not weigh so much emphasis on youth.

A lot of Noesen hype eh, looks like we were really wrong.

I think it's too early to dismiss Noesen. He's had a bad injury this past year, but could come back big this upcoming season. I've always liked him, but saw a solid 3rd liner more so than a top 6 power winger.

Fair enough, the last two seasons have hurt his development but that doesn't mean its over.

I just look at this list and think the only players that have exceeded my expecations are Dzingle, Pageau and Claeasson. The rest have been disappointments.

I know its early for Zibanejad, I am not worried about the skill set never have been. Its more to do with how much he wants it....

Englund - develops properly ends up being a serviceable stay at home in the nhl logging 15 to 20 minutes max. Doesn't play in the NHL until 22.

Gendron - AHL cup of coffee never makes it.

Eiserman - good energy player pushes for a checking role gets a couple NHL games, but too much forward depth in the organization to make it in Ottawa bounces around the NHL and AHL.

Summers - Takes the long road developing his body and becomes an NHL regular second pp D man that is very reliable at getting the puck out. Doesn't become an nhl regular until 24.

Perron - has electrifying QMJHL career lat,e plays into his 20's ends up being a high scoring ECHL'er who ends up in Europe and has a great career playing professional hockey.

Englund - Best player in our draft for 2014, becomes Anton Stralman
Gendron - poor mans top 4 defender (Kuba)
Eiserman - Becomes a solid nhl fourth liner (Greening)
Summers - Dzingel like path
Perron - BUST

I really think Englund can be a very solid player for us down the road, we have enough offensive defencemen, adding a steady rock to the fold is great imo

Perron > J.P Pageau.

We make the Playoffs, and Perron is having a pretty good stint while we make the Playoffs. Perron scores a Hat-Trick in Round 1 and we get crushed in Round Two and then he's never seen or heard from again. Familiar? Dejavu.

If Gendron becomes Kuba, you should do backflips and not call him a poor man's top-4

Kuba played an average of 22:57 per game in his 836 NHL Games with an average of 33 pts per 82 games. I mean what a bust

Same here. Never really heard of any of them before the draft.

Some decent potential there with reports showing they're all good skaters....but they all look like long-term projects.

Very weak draft, our picks are late for the most part.

I will only put money on Englund. Will need a bit more research and viewings about the others. Too early to tell and lack of info. Eiserman and Gendron look interesting though...

I think people could be surprised by Gendron. He's one of the best skaters in his draft class and is extremely raw. Guy just made the transition from forward to defense this season. He's got good size at 6'2 and has plenty of offensive talent. It seems his weakness is his defensive game, but that can be largely attributed to the fact he's new to the position. He's certainly a long-term project, but one that could pay off very well in the future.

Andreas Englund I would say Shea Weber-lite, but I think it would more accurate to say Weber is Englund-lite. Crease-clearing Kronwall-like-hitter who consistently puts up 50 points and gets nominated for Norrises.
Miles Gendron Becomes widely regarded as the greatest second-pairing D in the history of the NHL playing behind Karlsson and Englund.
Shane Eiserman Let's just say by his career's end, there will be a question about which Eiser/Yzer-man is truly the best. Consistent 100-point man, hits 160 in his career year. Four Art Rosses, six Harts and five Pearsons.
Kelly Summers Gendron's partner, PP beast, 60-point d-man.
Francis Perron Rides shotgun for Eiserman for his whole career and pots multiple 50-goal Richard winning campaigns.

I think we did okay this draft.

I love how it started of with the ridiculous statement of Weber Light but then oh my.
