Saw this last year, and thought I'd get the ball rolling on this. The basics are that each team board will vote for what player will be selected by their team. Currently right now, Florida has a poll going for what player they would like to select with the 1st overall pick and it's overwhelmingly for Aaron Ekblad. So, I now pose the question to the Sabres board with the 2nd pick, who would you like to pick 2nd overall? At 7 PM tomorrow, the voting will end, and the selection will be locked in. We'll see how this goes and see what kind of an interesting all around mock draft comes out.

2014 Mock Draft by Team Board Vote Selection
  1. Florida - Aaron Ekblad (Defense) - 75% of total vote
  2. Buffalo -

I've been mostly Reinhart for the better majority of the season, but as we get closer, Bennett just keeps creeping back into my thoughts. I really wish I could watch some more of Bennett and Reinhart, as highlight tapes are just so misleading. I watch one for Reinhart, and then I want him, I watch one for Bennett, and then I'm all in for him. This really will go down to the wire

Reinhart.

Is there a link to last year's poll. I recall that it came out very accurately.

I'll try looking it up

What worries me about Bennett is the frequency of players who play such a through-the-wall style end up having a lot of injuries more often than not. I'll take Reinhart.

I'm not going to complain if they pick a forward and probably would be content with Ekblad too. That being said, I've been a strong lean towards Bennett for two reasons.

1. Bennett is nearly a year younger and produced similar numbers to Reinhart with less experience at the Major Junior level.

2. Murray's comment about (paraphrasing) "Bennett will do whatever it takes to win".

The second point, "The Comment", made me start thinking about the greatest competitors and players in their sport. What came to mind is Jordan and Crosby. Besides having immense talent they both are driven to win and be the best they can be. Now, I am not comparing Bennett to Crosby and Jordan talent wise, but if Reinhardt and Bennett have similar skill levels, what could separate them through their careers and their development is their drive to win.

With players like Girgensons, Compher and Bennett spread among the top 9, this team will begin to have the talent to contend and be built for the playoffs to finish the job.
