Come on, these are mostly 16 year-olds who are yet to enter the MHL and play in their local regions for their local schools. I doubt there's one person on God's green Earth who knows all these players.

No, it wasn't, and I'm not sure if they will cast the draft itself.

Bob Beaver, "what is the order in which clubs pick?"
Hidden away in the final paragraph of the press conference report, http://www.khl.ru/news/2014/05/07/223785.html, it says the first four picks go to the bottom four in the regular season: Amur, Novokuznetsk, Minsk and Neftekhimik, and there'll be a pre-Draft lottery to determine this quartet's order of selection; then the rest of the League follows, as normal, and finally, it's the turn of the three new boys - Jokerit, No-Name of Sochi, and Lada Togliatti (OK, 2 newbies and 1 prodigal son), with another pre-Draft lottery to determine which of this trio has first or last pick.
I believe there'll be an expansion draft sometime in mid-July (Edit: 17th of June, apparently), for the Sochi and Togliatti clubs.

I believe the draft is more important to the teams and players from the CIS-countries.

What gives the draft a bad reputation is clubs being unserious by drafting top prospects heading towards North America and the NHL. Perhaps they could change the draft to something like CHL, with one "regular draft" where you could draft players within the KHL-countries (or within the same region, for example Admiral drafting a Japanese and a Korean player) and one import draft for players outside these countries or regions?

Must agree.. I think KHL doesn't need draft. Players should just play in their grow up teams / be free agents as usual.

That said, Jokerit is drafting with numbe 30, draft starting after an hour. (15:00 FIN TIME).
