From the last thread..

Bennett not going to the WJC is not a bad thing. Plenty of top draft eligible players aren't chosen

I hate to state the obvious but if the Sabres get one of Ekblad, Reinhart or Bennett they will have a good if not great player. Either way.

Really looking forward to the draft here.

Anyone heard anything about Sabres trading their 1st rounder in 2014 ?

I know a guy who knows a guy that said they're taking Thatcher Demo with the 1st overall pick.

I didn't think it was true (although this dude seems to know some things), figured I would ask to see if anyone had heard the same

Really a guarantee at this point that they will come out with one of those three. IMO.

EDIT: Misread your post; sorry for the confusion. It's not hard to imagine coming out of this draft with one of the three most talented players... I'd Love any of those three, considering we can trade current players around our strengths.

The whole team was "available" at the deadline. Anything can be had if the price is right, even our 1st round pick this year.

If the Oilers, or another team who would take Ekblad, won the lottery, I'd be fascinated to hear the Sabres war room on the Sam vs. Sam debate. In my arbitrary rankings early on I had it Ekblad, Reinhart, Dal Colle, Draisaitl, Bennett. Now the top two are the same, but Bennett's 3rd by a hair, and I flip flop every day on who I want the Sabres to take. Can't imagine being the people who actually have to make that decision...

Very curious to see McKenzie's rankings as well, they usually come out a day or two before the lottery. I would guess that not enough has changed for anyone to unseat Ekblad, but I'm intrigued to see which Sam is ranked higher.

His draft lottery rankings are pretty close to what actually goes down in the actual draft. Once those are released we have a pretty good idea on who goes where, at least in the top 10.

Wow a week from today is the lottery. CRAZY!!

We should have a poll on who you think wins it. My bet is the Oilers. ^_^

Unless IT'S Ovechkin or Malkin coming back pass!!. Both Reinhart and Bennett are legit top 6 prospects. Reinhart is more NHL ready, but should we rush him. If any young player takes a roster spot I'd expect it would be Grigorenko.

Were gonna have interest in this years Memorial Cup and heavy WJHC presence with Fasching, Compher and Reinhart/Bennett being locks

Wow. I had no idea he had Zadorov in his top ten. Good for Bobbo

Just FYI it's not actually him. He compiles the information but his opinion doesn't factor into it. He polls a number of NHL scouts and then tallies it up. That's why it is year in and year out the best rule of thumb indicator on where guys will go, because it reflects how NHL scouts are valuing players.

It also explains why Devine was adamant they were taking a second defensemen when he was still there. That's BPA all the way.

Thought this whole time it was his personal list. Thought I've heard him break it down like "I have Xxxxxx rated fifth because ..." Etcetera.

Guess not. Learn something new everyday. Thanks.

Bennett may be ranked no.1. But my gut still goes with Reinhart. Can't really go wrong with either guy. But I'll take that hockey IQ thats raved about whenever SR is mentioned.
