Your 2014 Olympic Gold Medal Team

Put together the roster you'd like to see in a Gold Medal Final in the 2014 Olympics. Country doesn't matter and don't care about extra players or why someone was left off your team. It's your team.. :)

Team Canada

Sharp Crosby Perry
Benn Stamkos Giroux
Hall Tavares Eberle
Seguin Toews Lucic

Keith Weber
Doughty Letang
Pietrangelo Girardi

Giroux has to be on the team. Most likely over Lucic, Heater, etc

Guys who I think have a better chance of being on the team than Sharp :

Getzlaf, Mike Richards, Eric Staal, Iginla, St.Louis, Nash, Bergeron.

Hall, Seguin, Lucic (because of intl ice) are all going to be hard pressed to make the team as well.

None of those players made my team. I won't get into the debate as to why.

It may be a stretch to say that Iginla will still be productive at his age, but he has yet to disappoint. If he retires or his production drops, I would probably add Jamie Benn in his place. Same goes with Boyle. If he retires, I would replace him with Pietrangelo. Plus there are a ton of centerman that are left out such as Getzlaf, Seguin, Thorton, Stall brothers, Richards, Henrique, Bergeron, etc. It's really hard to pick a team with so much depth and my opinion will probably change in the coming years. But this is the team I predict.

Out of all the Oiler young guns, Hall should be considered first IMO. He brings a factor only few possess. Not to mention he's a natural LW which Canada only has a few of.

How are people getting the defence wrong.

Weber, Doughty, Pietrangelo, Keith and Letang are all going to make it. Seabrook will probably be 6th d.

Seventh d is a fight between Staal, Subban, Hamhius and Girardi

Neal won't be in over Benn, book it. So keep Iggy in and replace Neal, Iginla's age, experience, and skill will be essential IMO.

He didn't make it in 2010. He definitely won't be there in 2014.

I chose Neal because of his chemistry with Crosby. Benn may very well make the team as he has enough talent.

St. Louis is one of the most underrated players in the NHL. The reason why Stamkos got to 60 goals is because of St. Louis. He was extremely close to making my roster, but I had to cut him due to his age.

Nah.

St. Louis assisted on something like 20 of he's goals or so. Might have been even less. Iirc, Teddy Purcell assisted on at least as many Stammer's goals as St. Louis.

St. Louis was one factor but not THE factor.

Or that's the way I see it.
