To grow the sport in the area.

I understand that much, but I thought their end goal was to have everything shift from Centennial to the Ford Ice Center. I mean they went all out with this one with the paint job, the stores inside and the corporate sponsorship naming rights. It just doesn't make much sense to me for them to do all that then not use it.

They're goal was to grow the brand by working the grass roots. The sponsorship helps cover the cost. It also gives them a back-up plan just in cast Centennials issues continue.

Antioch is the wrong part of the Metro area to host a professional sports team. Most of the players probably live downtown or in Franklin/Brentwood corridor. There is no easy way to get to Antioch from I-65. Lack of high end condos, restaurants, and other retail outlets that make life convenient are also lacking in the area. It was built to grow the sport and the fan base, not to be the new practice facility for the Preds.

FWIW, Hickory Hollow is pretty easy to get to from Franklin/Brentwood/Nolensville, Bell Road is Old Hickory BLVD. Agree on the rest though.

Hate that I'm going to have to miss the entire rookie tournament but a trip to New Orleans is going to have to take precedence this time. I've never been there!

I'll be there some for camp.

nice to see Williams earned himself an invite to the rookie camp, I hope he performs well. This could be a breakout year for him, he's finally taking over the starter role full time. He showed some flashes of brilliance in the SSM series. Nashville has very strong goalie depth so I doubt he earns a contract but you never know.

Hate that I'm going to have to miss the entire rookie tournament but a trip to New Orleans is going to have to take precedence this time. I've never been there!

I'll be there some for camp.

Have fun in New Orleans,it is really a great city to visit for business or a fun vacation.be careful on bourbon street though especially at night, there alot of weirdos that come out at night

So, for the rookie tournament games, do you have to have a ticket??

And what is the seating capacity for these games?

Wouldn't mind a road trip from Bham for this, but seems like in such a small venue there would be more demand than capacity....

For the first Preds one I believe so based on an email I received asking me to reserve my spot.

Ford Ice Center Grand Opening
RSVP needed!

The Ford Ice Center Grand Opening is quickly approaching and we want to see you there! Saturday’s Preds rookie game (beginning at 4:30 p.m.) will be a sellout and as a valued Season-ticket holder, we have reserved seats for you on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that this premium seating is limited.

When I try clicking the link now it says that the seating is full for the Preds game.

Couple questions. Any idea why Kevin Henderson wasn't invited to camp? He's in the second year of a 2-year contract, seems odd not to invite a contracted player.

Also, any idea why they invited Ryan Ellis and Taylor Beck, who are both restricted free agents, but not Scott Valentine (also an RFA)?

Appreciate any and all insight, thanks!

Well, as an out of town, non-season ticket holding fan, that is extremely disappointing.

I do get having this at the Ford Ice center- they are trying to promote it and I understand that completely- but having said that, they are severely limiting the fans- there are going to be a lot of people that want to see this that won't be able to, and that is a shame.

I almost wish they had just had it at Bridgestone....

This is pure speculation.
Henderson was loaned late last season. He may be on the edge of a trade or a cut. He was a good AHL player, but looked slow last year. I believe he had knee trouble.

I would like to see Valentine come back to Milwaukee. He was a good hitter and could play the wing in the AHL. Milwaukee is thin on D-man experience.

I think that Ellis and Beck have a future, either in the NHL or AHL. If not with Nashville, than with another team.

I reserved three spots whatever that means as I don't know where those spots are. If the STH's don't show up in time then they lose their spot(s). I guess a lot of people will already be there watching the first game between the Bruins and Panthers then move over to the other sheet of ice for the Preds game.

STH's will be there in general to pick up this season's ticket box and passports as well.

I say just show up and squeeze in somewhere along the boards or go up stairs to the lounge and watch from above.

You can hit up the Sunday game as well at 7:00 as I don't think that one has reserved spots.

Surprised by the lack of coverage by the team on this. Even though the games weren't streamed last year, the host last year put together a better highlight package for all games than this.

I'm not. The Preds don't exactly get their events out in the public or to the news outlets. I saw the Titans had a bowling tournament today but did not see anything about Brent Peterson's Golf tournament. They don't use social media as effectively as they could at all. They do about as minimal work as they can on their website. It's not really a surprise there aren't many highlights anywhere of these games.
