Looking forward to seeing this lineup in action.

Being at the 50 contract limit, I'd hope Sather has a plan to move out one or two of the AHL guys for picks--could always use more of those.

I love these lists, but I have to ask...

The Kline vs. Klein is an intentional joke nod to the actor, or actual misspell?

I've seen it in a few of your lists now so I was curious.

So, predict your opening night lineup (regular season). Here's mine, Malone is among those who start in Hartford.

Nash - Stepan - MSL
Kreider - Brassard - Zuccarello
Hagelin - Miller - Stempniak
Glass - Moore - Hayes
Lombardi

McDonagh - Girardi
Staal - Boyle
Moore - Klein
Kostka

Lundqvist
Talbot

I just don't see Hayes starting on the 4th line. If he can't crack the top 9, I think he'll be in Hartford.

The more I think about it, the more I think Hayes starts in Hartford. Rangers seem to view him as a center. It may be a little much to ask him to step into the NHL after playing predominantly wing in college.

I wonder if we're going to see a battle between Hayes and Miller for the 3C spot.

They may compete for that at some point, but I wouldn't be surprised if a vet takes that spot from game 1.

Kreider - Stepan - MSL
MZA - Brassard - Nash
Hagelin - Lombardi - Miller
Stempniak- Moore - Malone/Glass

Lombardi is a natural center, is pretty good on faceoffs and plays a solid two-way game provided he can still play on this level.

I wonder if we're going to see a battle between Hayes and Miller for the 3C spot.

I doubt it because it is not Hayes versus Miller. Miller was a PPG in the AHL, Hayes was a PPG in college. Big difference. If Miller can't crack that spot I sincerely doubt Hayes can.

I agree that Hayes is likely to play in Hartford for part or most of this season.

I think management saw/sees Hayes as a center, but AV is going to end up preferring him as a wing. Whatever time Hayes sees in the NHL this year, I think the minority of it will be as a center.

Kreider Stepan St. Louis

Hagelin Hayes Malone

In reality I think we'll see:

Kreider Stepan St. Louis

Hagelin Miller Hayes
Glass Moore Lombardi/Stempniak
Malone

Stemp or Lombardi start in the AHL.

Agreed. Unless there's injury I think it's safe to assume the following are locks:

Kreider
Marty
Step
Hags
Nash
Zucc
Stemp
Brass
Moore

Last three spots are between Fast, Miller, Glass, Malone, Lombardi.

I believe we'll see Miller, Lombardi and Malone with Glass as a spare. Fast and Hayes start in Hartford. I'm not saying it's what I want necessarily, what I want is whatever the most competitive lineup we can ice is as per AV and staff, but it's what I have a feeling we'll be seeing.

I can't guess as to chemistry aside from what we already know. Not fully sure who will slot in where, though I can certainly make an educated guess as to a few. I like the composition overall though. Lots of speed, can find scoring potential on every line, or stack one if needed. Decent physical capability. No real fighters but not many players I'd consider very soft.

Lol Stempniak is a fantastic player. Malone, Glass, Lombardi, Miller, Hayes and maybe even Hags are not better then him.

Stempniak's a very good role player, but calling him fantastic is going overboard. He a nice third or fourth liner, which is what he'll be for us. He's not as good as Hagelin and we have a serious problem if he's better than Miller this season.

Also, if Malone is a lock for this roster there are deeper issues. The guy is a garbage player at this point. The fact he needs his teammates to sell him to the fans every other day is pathetic.

Let him prove it on and off the ice.

If he is dragging ass with his far below average skating, there should be no chance he gets a spot over Lombardi, who, if healthy, is a very versatile and good player. Poo poo him playing in Switzerland all you want, fact is he showed he is healthy and his tools haven't deminished. Malone on the other hand has shown nothing but steep decline on the ice and major issues off the ice. This is Sather's little pet project.
