No, he hasn't been on the top PP unit to start the season.

50 is more likely.

It's hard for me to get excited for the season with exactly the same roster as last season. We have too many bad contracts that are unmoveable. The youth outplayed the veterans on defense, yet still got sent down. It just feels like our roster is going to be locked in this stalemate for at least another 2 years.

One of the best 4th liners we've had in a few years. Fast, cycles puck well, seems to have quick release on shot. Should prove to be a good pickup

Nice to hear. So he'll likely start in the NHL?

We all said, if we are being patient, then we would sort of suffer with what we have.

And what we have a a playoff bubble team.

Training camp IS NOT the time to try and move vets and get value for them. Let the season start. See who has injuries and see if some buyers arise. Even us...we were very healthy last year. The kids on D and F in the AHL will get some playing time when injuries occur.

Then at the deadline, if we are in/near the playoffs...chances are we do very little. If we are out of it, we become a seller and might find a buyer that was not expected.

We are not winning with our current D core. We all know it. Our hopes are with the kida. And the kids are 1-3 years from making it and 1-5 from being great players...if they get there.

Our only unmoveable contract is Vinny, and that may change after this season if he plays decently due to him only being owed another $8 million.

Also, so long as we avoid Boston in the East they can beat anyone else over 7 games. (though I don't love the idea of the Rags or Tampa... but beating them is plausible.)

If they make the playoffs with the current structure conference finals is not outlandish, though getting past the 2nd round would be surprising.

The players missing from the Met to start the season should also help, Rangers, Columbus and Carolina are going to be affected by Stepan, Staal and Johanson not playing.

amac too.

Considering Orpik got an even fatter contract, you can be pretty sure someone would have offered MacDonald what we gave him. That means someone would take him for a marginal return (at least).

As bad as we feel some contracts are, you have to remember that bad contracts are given out every summer. GMs around the league don't see eye to eye with fans.

no one wants MacDonald unless we retain salary

Given the contracts that were JUST handed out this summer, I have a very hard time believing this.

You (and I, and most other fans) may hate the contract, but you can be pretty sure he would have gotten the same amount or more on the market by someone else. That means someone sees value in the deal he is signed to.

If they had the motivation I'm sure they could move MacDonald without keeping any salary. If he's staying then Berube better put him with Streit or I'm gonna lose my mind, I can't watch a Coburn and MacDonald pairing for more than a few games without bashing my head against a wall.

They could get welts/concussions with such little gear. I wear: Helmet, neck protector, double-layers of camos, chest armor (with pockets for extra ammo), gloves. Also rock a battery operated ammo loader (hopper).
