Exactly. Where are all those fanboys now that were saying Brown shouldn't have been invited? Cough. Pacman40. I bet Pacman feels stupid.

You could at least spell my username right. I stand by what I said. I still believe there are better guys suited for their roles. Why would something Don Cherry said make me feel stupid? If there were one or two more spots on the selection camp (or if McDavid was guaranteed a spot) I think he would have been invited.

He was playing injured to try and get an invite. It worked for him, Sutter probably loved it. Now he has to get healthy and then prove he deserves to not be cut.

Yeah thats the problem though, he has to get healthy and if he isnt playing til then he'll be out of shape. He'll be very much on the bubble. If he gets healthy I'm sure he'll make it

With 8 D coming to camp, who's the most likely to be cut? Pelech? and if by some stroke of good fortune Toronto decides to send Rielly? Who gets cut, Bigras or Ekblad?

I'm really starting to think Rielly is coming now with Liles back up. I think if he does it will come completely down to who plays well at the camp

I Like the initial picks. Lots of speed, if you can't skate your dead on the big ice. Fanboys have to recognize this is TEAM CANADA, selection is not based on big market draft picks.

Nurse I thought would get a chance to compete for a spot.

Gauthier looks invisible in the Q this year & could be the first cut, skating?

Cam Russell from the MooseHeads just reported(on radio 95.7)that Drouin and Fucale will fly out Thursday. The concussion is "minor" noting no vomiting or prolonged headaches are evident. Protocol is seven days symptom free and he's feeling better already.

His skating is not a weak spot.

He might not be putting up great offensive numbers but he is exceptional at defense. He has a role on the team, as Sutter has already said. Only way he doesn't make the team is if he just completely sucks ass in the pre-tourny games.

He just isn't playing with the same drive he did last year.......I haven't heard if he's injured or not? IMHO, he doesn't appear to be keeping up? No offence meant.

Where is Lazar? No idea how you can leave him off the team.

Drouin-Petan-Mantha
Hudon-Horvat-Lazar
Shinkaruk-Laughton-Reinhart
Rychel-Gauthier-Girard/Anderson
McDavid

Switch Horvat and Laughton and that's the same as my preferred lineup(with Anderson making it over Girard).

I thought he would have turned it up by now but ya if he goes its to be an offensive guy obviously. Not sure Canada should be counting on a guy with 16 points in 18 games and only 5 goals to be a scorer for them

Well, IF he is healthy (as we all _know_ that he has been playing hurt now), then he is a lot better than the player who has 16 pts in 18 games (as evidenced by his 10 pts in 6 games pre-injury). That player would absolutely help this team offensively.

Of course if he ISN'T 100% healthy or is still off his game due to the injury, then I agree he should be left off. I'm a Canuck fan and so obviously want to see Canuck prospects there, but first and foremost I want to see Canada win gold, even if it means leaving a Canuck prospect behind. I like to think all posters here would feel the same way about their team's prospects as well.

Does anyone know if Sutter cares about handedness? He might not want to use Drouin - Petan - Mantha together as they all shoot left.

All of the projected centers are left shots and there are only 4 right shot forwards (2 of them are basically battling for one spot) in camp. One of the lines is most likely going to have 3 left shots on it.

I dont understand how everyone is easily pushing aside Felix Girard as a member of this team. He was dominate defensively at the Ivan Hlincka U-18's a couple years ago, as both a shutdown/penalty kill specialist and as a physical force, too the point that teams were intimidated in the corners. He has put up good numbers the past 2 seasons but more importantly was the reason Zykov was able to be as dominant as he was as a rookie in Baie Comeau last season. In my opinion he easily takes a spot on the 4th line, at the very least as a winger, but should center/assist in PK duties.

Don't know who he is, maybe? Reigning top defensive forward of the QMJHL and likely to be brought in a shutdown role before Gauthier would be.

I see most of you have McDavid slotted in as a 13th forward. Would he be moved up to a first or second line position if there was an injury to a key forward? Do you think that there is any possibility that he can beat Crosbys 2g-3a-5p from when he was a 16 year old?

Most people think McDavid will be slotted as the 13th forward only based on Canada's past history of doing just that. However, if he dominates early and Sutter sees something he likes, then the things that have happened in other years mean nothing. I think his skating is just too dynamic to not have him in a top role on the big ice.

They say familiarity breeds contempt. Well in this case lack of familiarity breeds indifference. Not that many people are familiar with his work including myself, but that's why Team Canada has a scouting staff, and has been watching these guys closely for years. It seems that every WJC there is at least one guy that makes Team Canada only to have forum posters up in arms about his selection, but by tournament's end everybody loves the guy. This year that could easily be Girard.

I'm thinking Shinkaruk makes it and he'll be playing with Horvat, they played well together in Vancouver and I think it'll work well for him

I think there's a much higher chance now. Liles is up and Rielly has been getting scratched so Nonis may think it's better to release him to get him playing. What the odds are though? I'm not really sure.
I'm hoping. Took a flyer on him late in my pool. Missed out on doing the same with Ristolanien earlier before he was announced to play for FIN, so I'm hoping TOR lets Rielly go.

Aswell it would be great for our gold medal chances :D

How physical is Girard? He did look good in the super series
