Broken down by team. Please let me know if I missed anything and I will change it.

Vancouver came away well in this draft. Obviously Benson is a great pick, but there next two are very solid two way defencemen. I had them as my 5th and 6th ranked defencemen. They drafted two solid goalies, my 2nd and 5th, so I think they made progress up front, on the back end and in net. I'm not as familiar with their other picks.

I really like Regina's draft. They got my top ranked player in Steel and my 10th ranked defencemen in Schioler. Luc Smith is a huge power forward with a heavy shot and great awareness. He'll need to improve his speed and skating, but I think he'll do well. They got a solid goaltending prospect in Kurtis Chapman (my 4th ranked) and a late rising forward in Jacob Elmer. Freadrich is a nice defenceman that put up very good numbers on a very weak Camrose team. He is smallish at around 5'9" but has good skill.

Despite not getting one of the super four in with their first pick I believe that Prince George had a very good draft. Josh Anderson is a big two way defenceman that will do well, but their later picks are great. Kody McDonald was a steal in the second round and along with Saskatchewan born Kolby Johnson they picked up two notoriously aggressive, physical and competitive forwards that have offensive skill. Lane Zablocki is one of my sleeper picks and was a late riser. Defencemen Cholowski and Reeve both have strong reputations, but I am not personally familiar with either of them. Overall it looks like they added depth throughout their lineup, but really added a physical element with their first three picks.

Brandon had a fantastic draft. Just getting Patrick and Clague will make them a force i future let alone some of the other picks. Tanner Kaspick was a great third pick and adds a solid playmaker up front. I'm unfamiliar with Ty Lewis. TJ Brown was a solid pick that adds more offensive potential to their blueline. Thiessen comes with some NCAA concerns, but he is tremendous local talent that was well worth the risk. Brandon took a worthwhile gamble in the mid rounds selecting Ryan Lindgren and Joey Anderson. Lindgren is a top five talent if their wasn't a strong NCAA concern and Joey Anderson is a first round talent from the states. If either one plays they will be the steal of the draft. McCorrister and Dalke are decent picks given the almost guaranteed talent they selected and have a chance to be solid offensive contributors and are local players. Overall, they took some risky picks, but also had by far the best first three picks.

More to come....

Totally agree... How he slipped that far is beyond me. I thought he would have gone between 8-12th overall or so... PG has some GREAT young talent believe it or not. They had a really good draft last year as well and they have all signed and committed to the team already.. well done PG!!

I think Brandon had a super draft too, maybe being a homer but in addition to Patrick and Clague, they have some guys that if they decide to go WHL route rather than NCAA will be steals.

Maybe someone can help me on this ? Cause I can't see logical reason.

Why would any 15 yr parent have their son sign with a CHL (WHL) 10 days after the draft ?
I can't see them gaining anything by signing so quickly? ( Besides parent egos)
Barzel waiting a year to look at options. Yes he signed, but at least his family went thru the options.

You can sign any time correct There is no drop deadlline for waiting?
So why not look at College schools in the States or the CJHL?

Again maybe I am wrong, But would any parent give up the thought of a scholarship to any school at least until the USHL draft the following year. Why close the door in 10 days?

The other question is : Can they trade players to other teams even if they have not signed a contact with the team they were drafted ?

I agree with you but maybe the family has already looked at their options and have decided 100% that they don't want to play US college hockey. Signing with the WHL is gauranteed 1 year of schooling. An old saying, "better a bird in the hand." Don't kid yourself, most parents and players are very knowledgable about signing.

Yes. Happens quite often. Most noteably Seth Jones never signed with Everett but his rights were traded to Portland.

But why not wait a few weeks and look things over. I think what Barzel did was much better. You can see what colleges want to see you and which ones do not. The only reason to sign so quickly is that the WHL team has you locked in. So it helps them. ( tickets)

No real gain signing so quickly, its not like you can sign with another team or play a game next month, it just seems that the parents might have drank the Kool Aid. There is a list of kids from the 2012,2011 draft who have still not signed. Not sure where it was.

Like HockeyDad said they do get a year of school, minimum, they may have also negotiated more years of schooling. With regards to Benson I would not doubt that they negotiated up to 4yrs of education. So there would be a huge reason to sign and what ever they get from the WHL teams is guaranteed unlike the NCAA.

Anyone know why Jaeger White went so low. Everytime I seen that kid play he was amazing. These are 15 year old kids but unless that kid has issues in someway Lethbridge just punked the whole league.

He was a big fish in a little pond in Peewee. He does have puck handling skills, but zero hockey vision on how to intergrate other players on the ice when he has the puck.

What do you think the odds are that Brandon can get Lindgren, Anderson and Thiessen come to play in the Dub.

Similarly, why did Anderson and Lindgren, both in grade 8, commit to NCAA colleges in the last 2 weeks, a bit early to commit to a school 4 years away!!!

With my limited knowledge of NCAA rules, I thought a school could not even talk to a player until they were done grade 10. Which leads me to believe that Anderson and Lindgren have not made a formal committment yet.
