So Lindholm goes next at 8th as he continues to be worthy of a top 10 pick in a redraft. Ends up a teammate of Monohan who went right after him anyways lol. Anyways 9 is NEXT

I think Pesce/Nurse/Morrisey/Pulock are all same level. All #2-#3 guys with a little room for growth.

Nurse is the best offensively and Pesce is quite easily the best defensively.

I would have said Morrisey last year but he struggled this year being away from Trouba and being expected to lead a dcore. The only thing that saved the Jets defensively was Helle having a career year in net.

Went with Pesce and think Nurse/Pulock should go next.

This should be Morissey in a land slide. If not he’s being terribly underrated.

I voted Mantha. My preference for the next set of group of players are Mantha, Pesce, Pulock, Domi, Bjorkstrand in no particular order. I'm not as high on Nurse and Morrissey as others it seems.

Probably because he is better offensively, not far off defensively, plays more minutes and has proven to be a success without an elite partner like Slavin?

Which one are you talking about? Regardless, neither are better defensively and all three are about even offensively and Slavin hasn't played with Pesce in 2 years.

Morrissey. He played about 1/3rd or more of his ice time in the playoffs and regular season with Slavin at 5v5 in 18-19.

I also don’t think Pesce being dropped off the top pairing is a positive against Morrissey who has become Winnipeg’s # 1.

What does Weegar have on Nurse, Pulock or Morrissey?

Nothing. I’d take all 3 of them over Weegar. Pulock, Nurse, and Morrissey are in a cluster in their own tier for the remaining D in some order.

Nurse has some solid even strength point total numbers, I believe he’s top 15 or somewhere around there for D in the last few years I remember seeing somewhere. Tough as nails and an excellent skater, I don’t think we’ve seen him even enter his prime yet.

100%.

He is the best offensively out of that group of dmen which is pretty surprising, especially since he doesn't even get PP1 time and the Oilers' 2nd unit is garbage.

He also eats the most minutes of those dmen and he doesn't have the luxury of playing with other high end partners- he's always been the better dman on his pair.

The Blues showed how valuable large mobile dmen are, and Nurse is a really unique player. I really hope the Oilers hang on to him longterm, he'll never be a #1 guy but a team could absolutely win a cup with him being complementary on the top pair or anchoring the 2nd pair.

I think you could choose between Pulock, Morrissey, Nurse and Pesce based on need and handedness. They're that close.

You mean like Pesce was in 18-19 when paired with Faulk? Because Pesce had one of his best seasons on his off side and brought out Faulk's best 5 v 5 season when that pairing was a thing.

FWIW I have Pesce, Morrisey, and Pulock as the next 3 off the board here

I’d put Faulk and Trouba in the same realm of defensemen. Once again, Pesce also played more than 1/3rd of his season in 18-19 with Slavin.

Mantha has turned into a solid, productive winger...but i think he's still in that tier where most teams would eagerly swap him for a defenceman like Pesce. So that's where my vote lands.
