Final mock draft of 2013.

1. Colorado- Nathan Mackinnon-C-Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL)

Colorado doesn't exactly need a center, but how can you pass on a future franchise player. Mackinnon is a tremendously skilled center who will be a game changer for years to come. Similar to Eric Staal.

2. Florida- Seth Jones-D-Portland Winterhawks (WHL)

Florida will be very happy to take Jones at 2. He's a guy who can really do anything. His ability to control the puck on and just inside the blue line shows you both how strong his offensive awareness is and how smart he is. Similar to Alex Pietrangelo.

3. Tampa Bay- Jonathan Drouin-LW-Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL)

Jonathan Drouin is the ideal winger to play alongside Steven Stamkos. He's a brilliant passer with tremendous hands. He'll have the opportunity to take lessons from the great Martin St.Louis and flourish in the NHL. Similar to Patrick Kane.

4. Nashville- Aleksandr Barkov-C-Tappara Tampere (SM-Liiga)

It is possible that we look back on this draft in 5 years and say "why wasn't Barkov taken first overall?" He brings a great two way game, which includes putting up big numbers and shutting down the other teams best guy. He's a beast. similar to Anze Kopitar.

5. Carolina- Elias Lindholm-C/LW-Brynas IF Gavle (SEL)

Lindolm is a versatile forward who can play both wing and center. Carolina may consider Nichushkin and Monohan, but Lindholm is too good to pass on. He put up pretty good numbers in sweden this year, and will most likely be a 2nd line center in Carolina for many years. Similar to David Krejci.

6. Calgary- Sean Monahan-C-Ottawa 67's (OHL)
7. Edmonton- Valeri Nichushkin-LW/RW-Chelyabinsk Traktor (KHL)
8. Buffalo- Darnell Nurse-D-SS Marie Greyhounds (OHL)
9. New Jersey- Hunter Shinkaruk-C/RW-Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL)
10. Dallas- Max Domi-C-London Knights (OHL)
11. Philadelphia- Nikita Zadorov-D-London Knights (OHL)
12. Phoenix- Curtis Lazar-C/RW-Edmonton Oil Kings (WHL)
13. Winnipeg- Bo Horvat-C-London Knights (OHL)
14. Columbus- Rasmus Ristolainen-D-TPS Turku (SM-Liiga)
15. New York- Ryan Pulock-D-Brandon Wheat Kings (WHL)
16. Buffalo- Anthony Mantha-LW-Val d'Or Foreurs (QMJHL)
17. Ottawa- Josh Morrissey-D-Prince Albert Raiders (WHL)
18. Detroit- Alexander Wennberg-C-Djurgardens IF Stockholm (SWE-1)
19. Columbus- Samuel Morin-D-Rimouski Oceanic (QMJHL)
20. San Jose- Mirco Mueller-D-Everett Silvertips (WHL)
21. Toronto- Frederik Gauthier-C-Rimouski Oceanic (QMJHL)
22. Calgary- Zach Fucale-G-Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL)
23. Washington- Andre Burakowsky-LW-Malmo Redhawks (SWE-1)
24. Vancouver- Kerby Rychel-C/LW-Windsor Spitfires (OHL)
25. Montreal- Adam Erne-RW-Quebec Remparts (QMJHL)
26. Anaheim- Ryan Hartman-LW/RW-Plymouth Whalers (OHL)
27. Columbus- Valentin Zykov-LW/RW-Baie-Comeau Drakkar (QMJHL)
28. Calgary- Morgan Klimchuk-C-Regina Pats (WHL)
29. Dallas- Nicolas Petan-C-Portland Winterhawks (WHL)
30. Chicago- Robert Hagg-D-Modo Ornskoldsvik

Zykov would be the BPA there but I can understand Anaheim not picking him

I agree. I'd be cool with Hartman though. Can score and play physical. Very low risk...at worst he's a skilled grinder for the 3rd line. At best he's a top 6 forward who scores, hits, fights.

They can't pass on Ristolainen at 14.

Yes they can. Very easily for either Wennberg or Mantha or even a trade down since they don't need defenseman from the first round

The 19th is debateable .

Actually the #19 isn't debateable. The Bluejackets are not taking 2 defenseman in the first round

It was between Morin and Gauthier but I went with Morin because Zykov is there at 27.

So through the power of fortune telling, you choose Morin beause the Jackets "know" Zykov will be there at 27

If you pass on Ristolainen at 14 then have fun with jarmo for the next 5 years. Ristolainen is the third best defencemen in this draft, and when you're rolling into the rink with Nikita Nikitin, you could use all the help you can get on the back end. He's a solid NHL ready defenceman.

If not Zykov then another offensively talented forward like Petan or Buchnevich.

:whaaa?:
:biglaugh:

Have you actually seen Niktin play in union blue? The guy was auditioning to be a #1D in 11-12 and was solid (tho not quite as awesome) last year as well. He's one of our better trade assets because we've got too many blueliners chomping at the bit to get NHL minutes.

Ristolainen might be picked up if he falls to #19 (at that point he truly is far too good to pass up), but not if Wennberg is still on the board. And picking up TWO blueliners with the first two picks is the height of absurdity, especially considering our serious needs at forward.

HAHAA! Thanks suckers! We in Winnipeg thought we were a little choked up at Domi being taken off the board. Little did we know that 5 GM's ahead of us would pass on BPA.

Here's to hoping you really are the Guru!

Nikitin was a top-4 defenseman on the team that finished last season 19-5-5 and won 8 out of 9 games on the road to end the season. And he was paired with a rookie. He obviously sucks. :help:
