The D is a big question mark and too hard to predict. Forwards are a bit easier.

honest question, why do people think colbourne is going to be the 2nd line center? He played good in 1 playoff game, but I mean he is anything but proven in the nhl, I highly doubt that that happens

I hope Colborne is our 3rd line C, with Grabo occupieng #2C.

he showed that he can play as the 3rd line C. I think he will be in that role come opening night. than In time, he will be second line C. he has the skills of a second line Centre

I'd like if we traded Grabo and maybe got like a Weiss or Roy for our 2C, picked up another top 4 dfd, and got another good 4th liner like Prust or Paille instead of Orr/McLaren

Wishful thinking:

Van Riemsdyk - Weiss - Kessel
Lupul - Kadri - Kulemin
Colborne - Bozak - Frattin
Komarov - McClement - McLaren

Phaneuf - (Trade)
Gardiner - Gunnarsson
Fraser - Franson

More likely:

Van Riemsdyk - Bozak - Kessel
Lupul - Kadri - Clarkson
Kulemin - Grabovski - Frattin
Komarov - McClement - Orr

Phaneuf - Gunnarsson
Franson - Gardiner
Fraser - Liles

Extras: Colborne, Fraser, McLaren

I think Clarkson can add a lot to this team at the right price. Gordon is physical and good at face-offs IIRC, and Rozsival would make a solid bottom pairing RHD. This would also be contingent on Ranger wanting to play in the NHL. Obviously still lacking a true 1C and a true top pairing partner for Phaneuf, but I think it's somewhat realistic and a solid line-up.

not going to happen, kadri isnt rdy for 1st line, colborne isnt rdy for 2nd line, and grabo (although all his supporters say it was an off year, when hes been consistently unproductive under RC for both seasons) clearly isnt a number 1 c. I honestly think there is a 95% chance of bozak resigning because he needs to be the number 1 c for 1-2 more years, while kadri gets consistent and joe scores at least 15 + goals (Say what you want about play but the productivity hasnt been there in the NHL to this point) to prove that he can play the 2nd/3rd line C.

I dont know if he does though, he doesn't use his size consistently enough in my opinion, and the offense hasnt been there in the NHL yet, I think his peak would be 2nd line C, but its most likely 4th line honestly. The kadri/grabo/colborne/Jmac theme is a joke imo, whereby there will most definitely be a bozak or weiss on this team next year.

That team might miss the playoffs.
I dont know why everyone assumes we have Clarkson we dont need him as bad as other teams and we certainly arent the only team interested in him.

I could see these 2.
If the Leafs truly wanted to improve (Clarkson will reduce output)

also a UFA D man (Scuderi/Streit)
Rielly back on the prairies

Komarov bumps Orr, Frattin on the 2nd line

Are you talking about the depth scoring line or the shut down line? If Colborne is going to be on the shut down line, he'll be a second liner. On the other hand, Kadri's line will be the depth scoring/ second line. During the regular season and the playoffs, the shut down line was given more minutes than the depth scoring line.

Assuming that Colborne is on the depth scoring line. It's either Kadri goes to the top scoring line or Joe is on the wing. I'm not so sure if Kadri is ready.

Assuming Bozak resigns:

Top scoring line: JVR - Bozak - Kessel

Shut down line: Colborne - Grabovski - Kulemin

Depth scoring line: Lupul - Kadri - Frattin

Fourth line: Komarov - McClement - Orr

If Bozak leaves:

JVR - Grabovski - Kessel ( two-way C who we know can handle top lines)

Colborne/ Mc - McClement/ Colb - Kulemin ( shut down line, but as Randy said, offensive production will be expected).

Lupul - Kadri - Frattin ( depth scoring)

Komarov - X - X ( Energy/ Kids)
Orr

I can't believe how few people have Rielly there to start the year. Even if he doesn't make the team next year, he will almost definitely get 9 games to show Carlyle what he can do.

My roster:

JVR-Bozak-Kessel
Lupul-Kadri-Frattin
Bickell-Grabo-Kulemin
Komarov-McClement-Orr
Mclaren

Phaneuf-Rosival
Gardiner-Franson
Rielly-Gunnarson
Fraser-Holzer

Reimer
Scrivens

Most likely Rielly will be sent to MJ after 9 games, and Fraser will step in with Gunnarson. There's a really weak crop of UFA d-men this year: http://www.capgeek.com/free-agents?year_id=2013&team_id=-1&position_id=D&fa_type_id=2 so I'm not sure if we'll end up adding anything significant.
