If someone shows me how to create tables, I will create one for the team roster.

Very nice. :)

I don't go to games, but I do subscribe to Hockey Streams.
How do you subscribe for HockeyStreams? Is it better than AHL Live? I hear the quality of sound can get really rough for AHL Live.

A subscription gets you NHL, AHL, all three leagues in the CHL, KHL and some other stuff. Quality is always pretty good on the AHL stuff but varies by arena. I didn't use AHL Live last season so I can't speak to the quality of that. HS is a good deal. For the NHL, you can also choose home or away feed.

Wait, seriously?

Bout to get that for next year.

the 'no blackouts' if true is the best part about it assuming the stream quality is good

Stream quality on NHL games is as good as Game Center, if not better. And no blackouts is accurate. I'm certain that the service is technically illegal, though it has somehow been around for years without incident.

I was going to ask...how the hell is this legal!? Crazy it has survived. Sounds like a nice deal.

I didn't see any FA signing to strengthen the Pack, to compensate for Newbury's loss... Can't have a bunch of kids running around without veteran leadership.

Who is left? Haley, Mashinter?

Niemis status is a bit uncertain. It has been reported that he left for Europe and signed a contract there - but capgeek.com still lists him as an RFA. Replacing Newbury will likely be adressed once the roster is finalized. We got one player (that I know of) signed on an AHL deal as well, that is Sam Klassen.

NMC - denotes No Movement Clause in Contract

2014 Draft picks
  • 1st round NYR
  • 2nd round NYR
  • 3rd round NYR
  • 4th round NYR
  • 5th round Florida (for Casey Wellman)
  • 6th round NYR
  • 7th round NYR*

  • NO 5th rounder NYR traded to San Jose for Ryan Clowe in 2013 - conditions being if he does not resign with NYR - then San Jose gets the 5th pick.
  • Eventually NO 7th rounder (conditionally traded to San Jose along with Tommy "horror-movie" Grant for Brandon Mashinter 2013 - condition being if he resigns with NYR then San Jose gets the pick). B. Mashinter has now been qualified - likely meaning this pick is going to San José

Powe and/or Asham might very well be heading down there so that takes care of the veteran help at least partially.

There are so many UFA still left, someone will get a camp invite and a chance to play in the AHL.

That's 16 forwards. Who would you sit? At some point these kids need to take the next step and carry the team.

It has to be hosted in some country that doesn't enforce copyright claims. Servers and domain.

Last year was the first I had subscribed, and I was impressed.

Charlie Dodero might be around in Hartford as well. They had him on an ATO end of last season, and he was fairly well regarded as an UDFA. I don't know if he's signed for this season though.

Who is Conner Allen? His salary seems very high for someone in Echl. I know bonus money included but why so much?

Goaltending should be interesting... If Talbot stops giving up WTF goals after/before making NHL highlight reel saves, it should be a fun and competitive year. Missiaen has his moments, but slow as Marek Malek (lateral movement as good as non-existent), Stajcer got eaten alive in his AHL appearances... I dont think it would hurt to bring in a vet to push Talbot, min. NHL salary in case NY needs a call up. Not sold on these three Gs.

He was one of our UDFA signings. He's not an ECHLer--we just signed him out UMass-Amherst. He'll almost certainly be starting in the AHL, as he's a good prospect from all reports.

Here's his HF profile: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/conor-allen/

EDIT: I see the HF prospect capsule doesn't really have anything on him. He's said to have good vision and possesses excellent ability to move the puck, and is a good PP QB. Apparently he also likes to throw his body around. People watching the team said he was easily their best defenseman and one of the best in the conference (Hockey East).

Conor Allen, D, UMass-Amherst Minutemen (Hockey East)
Signed as a free agent, March 29th, 2013

A star athlete and student, when Conor Allen decided to leave Umass-Amherst, he was in high demand. The 6'1, 203 pound blueliner was exactly the type of defenseman that would fit into the Rangers' mold, so New York was delighted to sign Allen to a two-year entry-level deal in late March. Expected to be a two-way defenseman, who has a good shot on the power play, can play a physical game, and loves to compete for the puck, Allen posted five goals, 14 assists in 33 games for the Minutemen this past season, while accumulating 14 penalty minutes and a plus-one rating. The 23-year old will get a good look in training camp next fall, but is likely to begin the season in Connecticut.

I also want to make sure everyone is aware that in addition to the great insight and recaps provided by Beacon, Jarkko, Osminator and others, there's a great site for Wolf Pack/Road Warriors news and analysis--Howlings. They've had a variety of people there over the years, but it has remained the best place for news on our professional prospects on the web (other than here, of course :)).

Sounds about right, even if you subtract 5 (Krieder and 1 more withRangers, tessier gone and wilson /kantor maybe in EcHL) and add 1 - Powe or Asham, whoever they cant trade then you' re still at 12. Will miss Noobie's production and leadership but im liking the way HFD's line up is shaping up, also the D depth. Young exciting team.

This is a good description though I would point out that all 3 goalies improved significantly during the course of the year, with The Mission being the most improved player on the team in my opinion. Miss was totally immovable early on, but not anymore. Still not good enough for the NHL, but his lateral movement is decent for an AHL backup. He has a good glove and great size, which make up for some of his movement deficiencies. Let's see how much he improves this year.

Stajcer also reportedly showed some improvement in the ECHL, though I didn't watch those games. A year from now, if our AHL goalies are Miss and Stajcer, I'll feel comfortable with it. This upcoming year? Not so much, but who knows. I think Stajcer will be able to handle AHL backup duties pretty soon and if Miss is working on his skating and movement right now during the summer, he can be a solid AHL starter this year when/if Talbot gets called up.

Talbot's WTF goals have gone down, but they still happen. Once he eliminates those, he'll be an NHL goalie. It seems to be some kind of a mental breakdown with him, and he needs to deal with it. He has all the talent to play in the NHL, but needs to deal with the mental part of the game.

realize its early but thoughts on the projected blueline if the rangers end up sending 2 or all 3 of johnson, syvret and johnson to hartford to be stored in case of injuries...

obviously mcilrath gets a top spot...do connor allen and sam noreau also get spots? or will noreau end up in the echl?
