There has been several players returning to Russia, including the likes of Alexei Ponikarovsky, Ruslan Fedotenko, Nik Antropov, Anton Babchuk, and Sergei Kostitsyn.

Does anyone know if any of these talents plans on spending large parts of their career in the KHL? I think the league would gain great prestige if it manages to keep at least some 1B talents for the forseeable future, and that same prestige also would make it more attractive for other players as well such as for example Artem Anisimov and Anton Volchenkov.

Well, Galimov admitted that he didn't really have any plans for the NHL and was rather surprised to get picked.

Still, even though most of those guys are more likely to play in the KHL, it would be silly of them to abandon the NHL opportunity right away. Quite naturally if their agents weren't sure about their plans for North America no teams would even bother picking them.

There are also talented players who were never drafted. Shipachyov, one of the best centers in the league, hasn't expressed any interest in the NHL period, he never even followed it.
