I wouldn't want to lose Kulemin. I really think him playing with Bolland and Clarkson will bea great fit.

McClement is needed in the bottom six. If Bolland is our third line centre, who in the system can play 4th line centre? Holland isn't a defensive specialist so he doesn't work. Nobody in the minors is knocking on the door. Unless someone better is available, I would keep him.

Raymond I'm fine with dumping for a pick.

Reimer should be our key trading piece.

If something blows your socks off, you move Kadri, but I would be hesitant on that one

well if it blew your socks off, why would you hesitate?

I mean just to move him in general. I'm not one who thinks he's a lost cause. I would prefer we kept him. But ifa crazy offer comes through then do it. But it would leave us even thinner down the middle. Unless another centre is coming back.

Smith can play 4th line centre.

I am not sure what to do with Holland but we can't be playing on 3rd or 4th line. It will be waste of his talent and deserves to be playing in the top 6. I wish we would try him on the 3rd line.

Btw, my ideal roster next season:

JVR-Bozak-Kessel
Lupul-Kadri-Holland
Kulemin-Bolland-Clarkson
D'amigo-McClement-Komarov

Bottom 6 is filthy

Phaneuf-Gunnarsson
Gardiner-Nikitin (he has similar quality of competition stats as Phaneuf and will be cheap)
Reilly-Gleason

Bernier
Reimer/Veteran Backup

Too bad we have a salary cap.

Anyone CAN play. I wouldn't trust Smith to do what McClement does. Jay, Nik, Tyler, Boll gives us a good forward group on the PK. I wouldn't want to lose any of them.

Holland is perfectly fine when we're rolling 3 scoring lines regularly. Put him with D'Amigo and Kulemin and he'll suffer offensively, but if you play him with talent he will continue to produce and improve. Kadri did very well playing #3C last year when Randy rolled 3 lines.

Kulemin does a great job on the 3rd/4th line, but he isn't worth what he makes and has never lived up to the raise he got after his 1 season of offensive production. Hence unless he'll take a significant pay cut (why would he?), he should be moved and replaced from within. Unless players take huge discounts ala Detroit Redwings, NHL teams cannot afford to keep fringe elements. I get that Nonis is trying to solidify the core going forward, but for every player awarded a huge contract (Phaneuf/Kessel/Clarkson/Bozak) Nonis will have to find effective players at very affordable prices to fill out the roster. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, if there's no player being promoted from the Marlies, the organization is failing on a developmental level. I'd look at moving any or all of Kulemin/Raymond/Orr/Maclaren/ heck I'd be open to trading one of Bollard/McClemment for a huge overpayment due to the depth at centre. Please note, I still believe this team needs a true #1 centre regardless of Bozak doing a great job filling this role.

I don't see Gardiner as a piece to trade until someone steps up to take his minutes.

So I just listened to an interview with Dions agent and in it the agent stated that the Leafs have had a number of negotiations ongoing and they delayed this deal a bit.

Obviously referring in part to the Gleason trade, but may also indicate we may see another trade or re signing soon.

Kulemin is worth what he makes.

People just fail to recognize 3 million buys a good third liner nowdays like Stalberg, Kelly, Clutterbuck, Brodziak, Ward, Kostitsyn, Setoguchi, Gordon.

A package of Reimer, Kadri and Franson should be enough to pry a #1 centre out of some team IMO.

Some people on here think it's easy to replace a guy who checks and kills penalties. Kulemin in terms of production isn't far off from a guy like Brad Marchand. They play similar roles. Brad makes 4.5, Kulemin is under 3. I don't think it would be crazy to pay Nik 3.5 per. But it depends what the market is for him.

If you lose him, who in the org takes his spot? To me, I would rather wait for someone in the org to take his spot before you trade him or let him walk. Nobody had shown the ability to shut guys down like he can.

If you discover in the off season that the Kulemin money is needed for a more valuable piece, then let him walk. But to trade him without having someone ready to fill the void is a disastrous move. And quite frankly poor management.

Most of these players had to change teams to make the $$$$$$ they got, which pretty much was my point.

Indeed, excited at the possiblity of more trades. Mind you, I might regret saying that after the trade

I think he was referring to the Leafs and the NHL wanting to show the negotiations and signing unfold on 24/7. If not for that, the deal would probably been signed weeks ago.

Its his interview from Dec31, from the 6pm hour of Prime Time Sports on Fan590. Podcast is on the website. Its right at the start. The interview with Nonis right after Meehan is good to. Has some nuggets...

I didn't hear or see it. Just pointing out the delay had nothing to do with the Gleason trade or any other moves. They just wanted to create drama for the show.

I remember hearing in early December (I think from Kypreos) that the Leafs were already in discussions with the Bolland camp to get him re-signed.

Thanks, found it.

Thats not at all the impression you get from the interview

Agreed, although he didn't flat out say trade negotiations, it came across as hockey operations type of events/negotiations rather then relating to HBO.
