I enjoyed the playoff run, however unlikely it seemed at the time. What I remember most is thinking that those games could be the last I saw in person for awhile. Really thought they were done here.

The 09-10 regular season was great. Don't remember a rough patch, just the 107 points. Too bad Doan went down in the playoffs, or who knows how far we could have gone.

Haha, I remember one bad game from the 09-10 season vividly.

We lost to Vancouver in January - something like 4-0 or 5-0. During the game, two large female Canuck fans tried to sneak into the lower bowl three times. They were not conspicuous about it all, and got sent away each time. The 3rd time was right after the Canucks scored their last goal about midway through the 3rd. They were escorted out and started yelling at me and others around me that we ratted them out for sneaking down. I told them that maybe they would be able to enjoy the game from the lower bowl if they didn't drop hundreds of dollars on their breakfast donut habit and used the money for lower bowl seats instead. They were not amused.

But I digress...

The 09-10 team is still my favorite. I still think they mop the floor with the 11-12 team. That Doan injury really hurt, and I am convinced that if we don't lose Doan, we actually close the Wings down in 6 games and make it to the Stanley Cup Finals...

One of the things I remember most about 2010 was Stempniak scoring something crazy like 15 goals in the 18 games after we acquired him, and then doing absolutely nothing in the playoffs.

If Stempniak would have contribute a little, Doan doesn't go down, and Bryz doesn't **** the bed, who knows what we could have done.

You think so? Sure, we won 50 games and all, but we would have played SJ in the 2nd round, and we just didn't play them well at all that year. Maybe would could have pushed it to 7, but I don't think we win 4 out of 7 against San Jose that year.

Anything can happen in the playoffs, but I clearly remember us not being able to beat San Jose even if our lives depended on it that year.

---

That being said, had we dispatched LA in 2012, we beat NJ in the Stanley Cup Finals. Guaranteed. Absolutely no way we would have lost that series.

We went 2-1-3 against San Jose that year, good for 7 points out of 12. And we went 3-1 in the regular season against the Blackhawks that year. Even though some wins by Sharks, Hawks, and Coyotes were in the SO, I still feel like it bodes well that in almost half of the regular season games against "tougher" competition, we managed to keep pace pretty well.
