Funny how you second guess your list once the results come out.

Quite stoked I got Kevin Roy in the 4th, but really wanted Roman Will and for the life of me, can't think why I'd put Billy Jenkins (who I like too) ahead of Will on my list (which I did). Jenkins is unrated by CSB, so I should have known he would have undoubtedly been there in round 7, where as Will was a much more obvious target, who Hasnain snatched up two picks before my 7th rounder. Also happy with Matt Lane, but Roy and Will were the two guys I really wanted. I wanted Will more than Jenkins either way, so what the hell was I thinking? I wasn't really, is the answer.

Ah well, gives me a reason to trade with Hasnain at some point.

I often have the same feeling, where I end up with a guy I don't particularly want and instead miss a guy I really did want, and cannot understand how I messed up the rankings. It particularly happens with re-entries as well, or players that are a bit older. I can see why NHL teams blow their brains out working over these lists, arguing over tiny little changes, because it makes a huge difference.

Anyways, I'm happy with my picks. Gillies wasn't my first choice, but I'm glad I got a goalie. Lundberg and Graham were guys I wanted, and as far as re-entries go, hard to argue with Wilson and Ferlin. Not easy to land the ECAC and HE rookies of the year in the same draft.

Ditto. The one that REALLY killed me, is one guy I really wanted was Justin Kea. Why didn't I put him higher to ensure I got him in the 6th? I could have put McEneny lower since he was injured all year and no one really knew about him. Instead, I lose out on one of the guys I really wanted...one pick before I would have had him. Ironic too since that pick was Ottawa's and chosen by the highest NA skater remaining, which was unfortunately for me, Kea...lol

Just the same, I wanted Josh Anderson more than Gavrus. Why did I put Gavrus higher on my list?

Overall, I don't know if I'm happy with my draft. A few guys I really wanted (Graham, Scott Wilson, Kea), I didn't get.

i got Raphael Bussieres and Mackenzie Maceachern who i wanted . . Nice . . But i thought i owned NYR 4th rd pick 96th overall, i jsut realized that it was year 2013 4th. Well .. Josh Anderson slipped thru my hands. With late round picks i got Lalancette and Martinook .. Interesting names.

Happy to have landed Josh Anderson even though I kept dropping him down my list at the last moment. Got lucky. It was between him, Calnan and Culkin for me with my last pick the 3rd. Somehow I still managed to land all three.

Quite pleased that in a draft full of defencemen I managed to get three forwards and a goalie I'm high on. (Of course, that just means my rankings are completely bonkers).

I actually had Nikolai Prokhorkin at #41 on my overall list, a few spots ahead of Stolarz (which should have one "l" in the league file, sorry), but knew Stolarz wouldn't survive the third round if I didn't grab him at #61. Considering Prokhorkin was rated in the top 60 by ISS, Future Considerations and Redline, and a top-10 skater in Europe by CSB, I figured he was a goner. Guess the "Russian Factor" is still ion play for the HFNHL! Seeing him still on the board for day 2 helped prompt my trade with Florida to grab #94. Hopefully he avoids the drama of trying to get into - and get icetime in - the KHL, and comes to the CHL next year instead.

The next four guys on my day 2 list all went unsurprisingly early (Richard, Lundberg, Baillargeon and Barber), but I was pleased to see that OHL late bloomer Chris Tierney and BCHL mystery man Jujhar Khaira, my 6th and 7th names, were still on the board at #108 and #120.

With my last pick in the draft, I finally grabbed a blueliner at #134, taking a reach on big, mean, dumb AJHL crease-clearer Rhett Holland, in no small part because of that name - the guy just SOUNDS like a hockey player. ;)

Big thanks to Brock for not sleeping last night in order to get this up so quickly - terrific work as always. Just because we know what to expect from you doesn't mean it isn't appreciated! :D

HA. Actually, I can get these done pretty quickly now. Got a great system worked out which allows me to complete the draft in no more than a few hours.

Here's an interesting observation (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=398986)

I guess some GM's should be hoping 'their' guy isn't taken 15th overall tonight - even guys taken 30th on average have had better NHL careers than those taken at the 15 spot.

Nick - You're favorite draft choice (Scott Kellman) you often groan about is used as an example ;)

Ah ... 3 hours until the draft begins.

Highly excited for Justin Kloos, Mr. Hockey of Minnesota this year, in the 7th round. Undersized, but an incredible skater and scorer headed to the Golden Gophers. Not entirely unlike John Gaudreau, who I should have jumped up to pick myself.
