Is there really any player who plays a game reminiscent to that of Ovechkin's in his first five seasons?

It would be nice to have that type player in the League now. Before him, there was Lindros. There isn't really anyone now who brings the blend of physicality, speed, dangerous shooting ability, skill and playmaking to the table that he used to display.

Laine might have an even better shot, but not even close to the hitter and speedster Ovie was at that point in his career.

Ovie truly is a generational talent because of how he played the game.

The only comparable to me would be Westbrook in the NBA who has the same intensity (obviously a different sport though).

Sorry, I misunderstood the question. In his prime, Ovechkin was a reincarnation for Bobby Hull. Then he became Brett.

There really is no good comparable in the league at this time. I think the closest comparables might be Blake Wheeler and/or Nate MacKinnon. Those guys can fly down the wing like O and have good but not elite shots though.

Laine is way too slow and not nearly as physical to warrant a comparison.
