1- Washington Capitals - Alexander Ovechkin
Pos: Left Wing Height: 6'3 Weight: 200lbs
the Washington Capitals will be drafting the best talent in the draft at the 1st overall spot and this year the best talent is Ovechkin

2- Pittsburgh Penguins - Evgeni Malkin
Pos: Centre Height: 6'3 Weight: 186lbs
Pittsburgh upset that they will not be drafting future star player Ovechkin so the next best player in line for them is Malkin. The Penguins lack a real offensive threat in their lineup besides Lemieux.

3- Chicago Blackhawks - Robbie Schremp
Pos: Centre Height: 6'0 Weight: 195lbs
Trading the likes of Sullivan and Zhamnov i believe that the Blackhawks will be looking to draft an offensive forward.

4- Columbus Blue Jackets - Cam Barker
Pos: Defence Height: 6'3 Weight: 206lbs
Difficult spot to predict, the Columbus Blue Jackets have some of the best young offensive talent in the league and they now have a chance to draft an offensive star to be put alongside with Nash and Zherdev. the Blue Jackets also have a pretty weak defensive core though. So i think Cam Barker will be the ideal fit for this team.

5- Phoenix Coyotes - Wojtek Wolski
Pos: Left Wing Height:6'2 Weight:188lbs
I would say its a close match between Wolski and Olesz to be drafted by the Coyots. Although its a close match i think Wolski has the slight advantage over Olesz and would be a great acquistion for the Coyotes.

6- New York Rangers - Rostislav Olesz
Pos: Centre Height: 6'2 Weight 191lbs
Rostislav Olesz would have most likely been a lock for the top 3 this year in the draft if it werent for that concussion at the World Juniors, but none the less he is still an awesome offensive talent.

7- Florida Panthers - Lauri Tukonen
Pos: Centre Height: 6'2 Weight: 196lbs
Tukonen does not have one of the highest offensive talent but seems to be a solid all around player and is very speedy( The New Finish Flash) so with that in mind he should be a very nice pickup for the Florida Panthers.

8- Carolina Hurricanes - Marek Schwarz
Pos: Goalie Height: 5'11 Weight: 165lbs
Last year it seemed as if the Carolina Hurricanes were gonna draft Marc Andre Fleury, but with last minute trades between Pittsburgh and Florida the Hurricanes ended up with Eric Staal. With that in mind this year the Hurricanes have the chance at drafting a franchise goaltender for their team.

9- Anaheim Mighty Ducks - Drew Strafford
Pos: Right Wing Height:6'2 Weight: 200lbs
Anaheim does lack some size on offense and thats where Drew Strafford will come in. Hes a smooth skater, great hands and is one big guy.

10- Atlanta Thrashers - Andrew Ladd
Pos: Left Wing Height: 6'2 Weight 199lbs
In Atlanta with star wingers Dany heatley and Ilya Kovalchuk it seems like Andrew Ladd will be an ideal fit on the 2nd line winger who will get some good PP as he matures with time. He will be a great fit in Thrashers system.

11- Los Angeles Kings - Alvaro Montoya
Pos: Goalie Height: 6'2 Weight: 178lbs
Ranked 1st among N/A goalies and with Los Angeles very weak in the goaltending department i cant see Los Angeles passing up on a franchise goalie such as Montoya.

12- Minnesota Wild - A.J Thelen
Pos: Defence Height: 6'2 Weight: 205lbs
Yes, A.J Thelen is not ranked as high on my list as he is on others. I am not to high on Thelen but still think he is a solid player who will provide some much needed defence in Minny.

13- Buffalo Sabres - Alexandre Picard
Pos: Left Wing Height: 6'2 Weight: 190lbs
4th among North American Skaters Alexandre Picard will fit into the Sabres Organization very well as pretty strong offensive player and a descent defensive player.

14- Edmonton Oilers - Mike Green
Pos: Defence Height: 6'1 Weight: 191lbs
Edmonton being my favourite team in the NHL i would love to see the Oilers knabb Mike Green, hes a strong offensive dman which is exactly what the Oilers could use. The oilers do have some solid dmen in their organization but no real offensive dman.

This is my 1st Mock draft for the bottom 14 teams in the NHL, I will most likely be making a full Mock Draft after the Playoff ends.

I won't be sad if the Wild drafted Thelen, I hope to God they draft someone like him but I see them picking up Picard. If you read Riser's comments and look at their GAA and SV%, the Wild desperately need a complimentary winger to Gaborik, O'Sullivan, and Dupuis.

I wouldnt say they desperatley need a complimentary winger, they do have Matt Foy and Brent Burns on the wing

Burns isn't on the wing anymore and Foy is going to be in the minors for a bit but yes they do have Foy...but they need a winger.

Good Job!

I also have a feeling that the Capitals with all their picks will move up into the 10-14 range, I'm not certain at exactly what it would cost (1st round pick + ? ) but I definetly see it as a strong posibility.

based on his performance so far in the WHL, Cam Ward is the franchise goalie that you think Carolina needs. Goalentding is the least of the Canes needs right now... other then role playing forwards that could contribute about 25-20 points a season.

Look for them to draft Thelen or a quality scoring forward.

If the Ducks draft a forward I'll agree with Fighter that they might wanna have two former teammates together.
I always thought that the Mighty Ducks needed a good D-man more than another forward. Well, in case they go "defensive" the team will take Green or Thelen.

I really mind to see Ladd with the Thrashers, because it would allow Hartley to spread the scoring even more. McEachern would skate on the line and Ladd can join Ilya on the second.

Yes, Anaheim need defense but with Barker gone it seems Bryan Murray will go with the best kid available, MAYBE Thelen; I like Green but he lacks of size and BM likes big NA guys. Not to mention that Thelen is two-three years away from the NHL and in three years the things will change.

I wouldn't mind having Cam Barker in the PENS line-up beside Ryan Whitney next year.
Mabey there could be a trade in the works only this we go down in the draft, not up!

Pittsburgh is unbeleivably stacked with great defensive prospects. They have a lot of good wingers in their system, and their goaltending position for prospects is unparalelled right now. What they lack is a #1 center. Malkin has the potential to be that. I don't see Pittsburgh trading down since they have excess picks already, have an overall stacked and incredibly deep prospect pool so they don't need the depth.....just lacking one thing....again, the front-line center. That;s Malkin's potential. It would take an incredible offer to pry the pick away.

I agree . . .the only thing stupider for Pittsburgh to do than drafting Barker is to draft a goaltender . . . now that we have added Jackman, only 25 years old, we are only more stacked in goal than we are on defense. Where would Barker play? Malkin is maybe a better fit than even Ovechkin would have been and except for the ticket selling potential of Ovechkin, we in the end may look back and be very happy that we ended up number two. CP loves Malkin and there is no way CP trades the pick absent an Lindros type deal thrown his way, and I do not even see a deal like that for Ovechkin.

malkin fits into edzo's style of play of being responsible in your own end and then 'counterattacking' based off of the other team's turnovers in the neutral zone. malkin is good in his own end of the ice and recognizes when the play is going toward the offensive end of the ice and can make that adjustment quickly. malkin has got great hands and great ice vision, so i am not disappointed with the pens probably drafting him.

i agree with jaded-fan that malkin would probably be a better fit, although
ovechkin would sell tickets like crazy and being on a line with mario would be great, but how about this line lemieux--malkin--morozov.

Brewer is an offensive d-man in your book?

I read that Green is an all-round d-man.

Nice mock, but I think that Montoya will be the first goalie taken in the draft.

Why's that?

I've seen Schwarz is actual top 10 lists, haven't seen Montoya rated ahead of Schwarz in many if any lists. Montoya certainly could go first but I'm curious why you feel he will.

Ya i agree with Brewer not being an offensive defenseman, hes well rounded imo.

As for Green he is an all around dman with a strong offensive upside
