I remember a Hurricanes/Isles game right before the COVID shutdown in 2020 that was decided in OT on something along those lines. It's a completely unnecessary complication in the hockey rulebook. So the measuring point was the shoulder because the deflection landed on the ice and not inside the net...but was the deflection attempt not one trying to redirect it into the net? You're basing the high stick measuring point based on how the puck turned out and not what the intent was.

I don't like it. In situations like that, the measuring point should always be the crossbar. Or just eliminate this distinction and make the shoulders the measuring point for all high sticks in every situation.

Better period than the 1st, but not good enough after not showing up on defense for 20 minutes. At least Cirelli looked okay leaving the ice, as that's a big loss if he's out for any lengthy stretch. If they can survive the likely Vegas push to start the 3rd, they'll have a chance e for at least a point. If Vegas gets an early one, well, it'll be 3-15 when they've allowed 4+ this year.
