Parikka is one of the better 97-born D's in Finland, but he's not "the next big Finnish talent". 4th pairing D at Hlinka and didn't stood out that much in the two games I watched. Good skater with some skill. Has grown slightly from last season, but he's still bit undersized for a D.

It's early, but guys like Veeti Vainio, Jere Huuhka and Waltteri Ruuskanen might in the end have a better chance of getting drafted from 97-born Finnish D's, they have a bigger frame than Parikka.

Parikka is a defenseman who is good at many things; however I don't think he does anything remarkably well. He can skate and move the puck well both on PP and even strength, but I haven't seen high-end offensive upside yet. Just my opinion.

He might have a chance if he develops well and grows a bit, but he's not one of my personal early favorites.

Des Moines Buccaneers also signed Jimi Kuronen few weeks ago, so playing with fellow Finn may help them both

Just saw them both play this past Wednesday and neither stood out as impressing. They are playing on a sub par team this year but through 33 games Parikka has 1 goal and 5 assists.


Kuronen has played 5 games with Des Moines and registered 2 assists.
