1982 Battle of Quebec

This is for anybody who remembers the 1982 Nordiques-Canadiens playoff series.

I know the Habs had far more points that year, but was Montreal REALLY that good?

I know that Quebec had Goulet and all the Stastnys, but what about the Habs?

Did anybody really think the Habs could have potentially threatened the Isles that year?

No one could have threatened NYI at that time. Spring ' 82 that dynasty was at its apex.

My fading memories of that Habs/Nords series is simply this:

It was bloody.

Literally.

The Isles, Edmonton and Montreal were by far the best three teams in the league that season.

Montreal still have great offensive depth and the Robinson/Langway/Engblom defense, but Wamsley, Heron, and Sevigny in goal was pretty underwhelming compared to rest of the team.

Since the Isles eventually shut down a great Quebec offensive team
(giving up 9 goals in 4 games to them) I'm pretty sure they would have rolled Montreal as well.

To Quebec's credit, they did use up lots of energy in defeating Montreal and then taking on Boston (riding a hot Mike Moffat in goal) in another very physical series before taking on the Isles.
