Eh, I've never been a big Glennie fan and never cared much for his attitude. However, as circumstances change I afford myself and others the ability to change their opinions, and it seems that Glennie has proven something to people in the organization. He may have been lucky to get a contract, but he DID get a contract.

I wouldn't pin any kind of hopes of him adding much to the team, but I don't see the point in hanging his past on him like an anchor if he has indeed matured as a person and evolved as a player.

Is a legit 3rd pairing defenseman who can play against decent NHL competition really on par with a bottom 6 or 4th line forward? I give the edge to the defenseman.

Sure. Wouldn't you also want a bottom 6 forward "who can play against decent NHL competition"? Albeit the d-man would probably (or should) be the better player due to roster size (2 vs 6).
